The Celtic Board lorded it up domestically, and failed to build the club in Europe. 7 from 9 qualification failures is as much a legacy as 9 domestic leagues in a one-horse race.

@RobertJ90427282 The worst part of Nancy’s system was that it left the defence exposed. The shape was all wrong. He also played with wingers, rather than full-backs. It could be done more effectively under O’Neill.

It might suit your own set of beliefs as to what happened during that window, but it’s not the way it happened at all. It suits the club for fans to believe that Dom McKay wasn’t up to the task, but the truth is a million miles from this take.

Dom McKay wasn’t involved in the Eddie Howe deal collapsing. Also, McKay did all the deals in Ange’s first window, including the one that brought CCV to the club 15 minutes before the window closed. He didn’t identify players because that isn’t part of the CEO’s role. Frank Trimboli clearly assisted Ange in player identification and first contact via CAA Base, but Trimboli wasn’t ’doing deals’ on behalf of Celtic - that’s the CEO’s job.

An agent may have an involvement in player identification and first contact, but they don’t sign players for Celtic.

The ‘might have been’ will always exist, particularly when the current board has refused to share (or perhaps don’t have) a plan.
