As the training in Gulu District wrapped up on Day 3, participants shared experiences on tree growing, community awareness, plastic recycling, and alternative energy solutions, sparking inspiration for others to take climate action in their communities.

The ELthree Climate Justice Training concludes today in Nebbi District, with participants leaving with costed action plans, defined responsibilities, and clear next steps ready to translate commitments into community action. #ClimateJustice

Piduyem Pir Anyim Maber group has designed a focused advocacy strategy in Pakwach District, combining community sensitisation, policy dialogue, and support for tree nurseries within a clear three-month implementation timeline. #ClimateJustice

The interventions go beyond restoration. By integrating green energy solutions such as briquettes and energy-saving stoves, the plans directly address the drivers of deforestation while promoting sustainable alternatives at community level. #ClimateJustice

In Nebbi District, participants have developed structured action plans to address deforestation, linking stakeholder engagement, community dialogue, nursery establishment, and tree planting into one coordinated and practical response. #ClimateJustice

Participants are refining message delivery across three key formats, a short pitch, an advocacy statement, and digital content ensuring consistency in their core message while adapting tone and framing for different audiences and platforms. #ClimateJustice

In campaign canvas sessions, groups are rigorously interrogating their issues defining the problem, narrowing their goals, identifying power holders, and selecting tactics that are both strategic and achievable within their contexts. #ClimateJustice

Campaigning requires discipline. Beyond visibility, it demands a defined objective, a clearly identified decision-maker, and a time-bound pathway to influence change. This is the benchmark guiding today’s work in Nebbi. #ClimateJustice

Day 3: We continue the Climate Justice Training in Nebbi District, bringing together 45 advocates to turn three days of learning into practical community campaigns addressing urgent climate challenges. The work continues.

Group 4 discussed fighting deforestation through partnerships with local NGOs, community involvement, promoting the 3Rs, and setting up waste collection points. They also recommended tree-planting and sustainable practices to safeguard forests.

Group 3 is addressing flooding in Nebbi Municipality by promoting proper waste management. Solutions include mobile waste collection trucks, disposal points in every cell, and bins at shops, with advocacy targeting local government, councilors, businesses, NGOs, and households.

Group 2 is tackling uncontrolled bush burning in communities promoting climate-smart agriculture. They suggest penalties for offenders, tree planting, and fire lines, while driving advocacy through stakeholder engagement, community education, and policy enforcement. #Climate

Group 1, highlighted industrialization and environmental degradation as key climate challenges. They propose solutions like adopting biogas and modern technology, recycling plastics, enforcing paper bag use, and advocating through community sensitization, and demonstrations.

In group presentations, participants are analyzing the causes of climate injustices, like unequal access to resources and system failures, developing rights-based issue statements, and refining 2–3 clear advocacy asks while identifying the decision-makers they need to influence.

Participants are examining key climate justice issues in their communities, such as water shortages, land disputes, and food insecurity,and discussing who holds the responsibility to address these challenges and ensure change. #ClimateJustice

Why this matters: The #ClimateJustice Advocacy Training focuses on advancing climate justice by turning community experiences into rights-based advocacy,enabling participants to clearly define injustices, identify responsible duty-bearers, and demand accountability.

We are in Nebbi District for Day 2 of the Climate Justice Advocacy Training, bringing together grassroots movements, youth and women activists, and community leaders from Nebbi, Zombo, Pakwach, and Arua to strengthen advocacy skills and influence climate justice action.
