Media Literacy 101: Between the music, camera work, Cloud’s shift in focus/POV, his reaction, and Tifa’s response, it is clear this scene is to inform the player about Cloud’s sexual attraction to Tifa. Which is totally okay, because he loves who she is as a PERSON first.

Meanwhile Cloud’s true self emerges when he’s with Tifa. This is not even a fan observation, the Devs have OPENLY stated this over and over.

@TifaTheMonk You don't seem to understand. Cloud's fake Persona is stronger with Tifa. He told her he would become a SOLDIER and he keeps the lie with her. Aerith constantly challenge this and because of that, he is more himself with her.

Today’s entry into the #FF7 Motivic Catalog is one I identified last year: the “Promise motive”: a short melodic fragment heard in several Cloud/Tifa-related tracks that depicts Cloud’s childhood promise to Tifa. Though I’ve mentioned it, I never fully addressed it on its own.↓
