Happy International Day of Older Persons! Today is a day for celebrating the wonderful contributions that older persons make to our society. In particular, today we want to thank our Age Friendly Ambassadors who lead the way in making Ireland a better place in which everybody can grow old. Some of our Ambassadors are taking to their local radio stations today to discuss their roles and the important work that they carry out. You can hear them on C103 Cork, Clare FM, Shannonside Northern Sound, Midlands103, Highland Radio, and South East Radio between 9-11 AM this morning!

It was with deep sadness that we learned of the passing of our Cork City Age Friendly Ambassador, John Mullins, yesterday. John joined us as an ambassador in 2021 and his passion for making Cork a great place in which to grow old and championing the voice of older people was palpable. Only last week he was out in force with the Cork Age Friendly Programme to launch its new energy cloud initiative. As executive chairman of clean energy firm Amarenco, a former European Parliament candidate for Fine Gael and so much more in between, John lent tremendous support to our organisation both within and without. For that, we will be eternally grateful.
