Working through late nights, navigating academic pressures, preparing for surprise tests, appearing for examinations, clocking long hours in the library, and deliberating passionately with peers on key issues and solutions for capstone projects across the varsity campus — all these efforts finally bore fruit as the furrowed brows and thinking lines softened across the faces of the graduating Class of 2026. Today, these graduates wear smiles that come only from perseverance and the anticipation of the future as each takes their path forward, not only moving closer towards their aspirations but also making the world a better place, one step at a time. #AhmedabadUniversity #AhmedabadGrads #AhmedabadConvocation #Convocation2026 #Classof2026 #16thAnnualConvocation

“Education is not really about staying within the boundaries we arrive with. In fact, some of the most meaningful learning comes from allowing yourself to be changed by things you never expected to care about. And I think that is exactly the kind of environment this university created for us.” These reflections by our valedictorian, Moksh Shah, BA (Hons) Class of 2026, captured the spirit of Ahmedabad University’s 16th Annual Convocation. In his valedictory address, Moksh spoke about discovering new intellectual pathways during his time at the University, from majoring in Economics and minoring in Sanskrit Studies to pursuing research in finance and exploring religious art through field visits and international study experiences. He reminded the graduating class that knowledge is a form of wealth that only grows when shared. His address reflected the values of inquiry, exploration, and lifelong learning that continue to shape the Ahmedabad University experience. #AhmedabadUniversity #AhmedabadGrads #AhmedabadConvocation #Convocation2026 #Classof2026 #16thAnnualConvocation

Delivering the Convocation Address, Sajjan Jindal, Chairman of JSW Group and an accomplished business leader, urged the graduating class to step into the world with the courage to build. He described “BUILD” as the defining word for the graduates’ journey ahead: Be bold. Uphold integrity. India first. Lead through difficulty. Design for legacy. Reflecting on the founding vision of Ahmedabad University, he said the institution was created with the conviction that education must be continuously reimagined, in the way we learn, the questions we ask, and the connections we forge across disciplines. Calling the graduates the embodiment of that conviction, he emphasised that meaningful change has always begun with belief long before evidence emerged. He encouraged students to remain fearless in pursuing their ideas and ambitions, noting that boldness is not the absence of doubt but the ability to let conviction rise above others' doubts. Urging them not to allow caution to limit their aspirations, he reminded the graduating class that achievement ultimately depends on sustained effort and discipline. “Hard work beats talent when talent does not work hard,” he said, stressing that a degree gains meaning only when matched by dedication and perseverance. Closing his address, he reminded graduates that boldness without effort is empty, and that the responsibility now lies with them to build with purpose and integrity. #AhmedabadUniversity #AhmedabadGrads #AhmedabadConvocation #Convocation2026 #Classof2026 #16thAnnualConvocation

Congratulating the graduating class of 2026, Sanjay Lalbhai, Chancellor and Chairman of the Board of Governors, reflected on the changing technological landscape shaping the future of work and society. He reflected on how the convergence of technologies such as artificial intelligence is fundamentally reshaping the professional landscape and emphasised that this new era demands graduates who can combine technological understanding with ethical inquiry, critical thinking, and reflective leadership. “As you leave Ahmedabad University, remember that while these technologies may transform the world, it is ultimately your vision, your judgement, and your values that must guide their direction,” he added. #AhmedabadUniversity #AhmedabadGrads #AhmedabadConvocation #Convocation2026 #Classof2026 #16thAnnualConvocation

In his address at the 16th Annual Convocation, Vice Chancellor Pankaj Chandra highlighted the University’s growth as a multidisciplinary research institution committed to innovation, critical thinking, and interdisciplinary learning. Celebrating 923 graduating students across undergraduate, masters, and doctoral programmes, he said,” At Ahmedabad University, you entered a safe space where you could experiment, fail, and still remain secure. It was through that experimentation and moments of uncertainty and slippage that you learned and grew. You have received some of the finest education possible in our country, and that prepares you well for the future. You leave with the skills, perspectives, and adaptability needed to navigate the many challenges that will come your way with patience and resilience. You are the hope of this nation.” He also noted national and international recognition received by faculty, students, and alumni in research, innovation, literature, engineering, and science, while encouraging graduates to remain adaptable, courageous, and committed to contributing meaningfully to society and the nation.

How do Ahmedabad’s autorickshaw drivers navigate the gig economy? Not through passive adaptation, but through everyday acts of strategy, negotiation, and resistance. Far from being workers trapped by technology, they are constantly finding ways to navigate, negotiate, and work around digital systems on their own terms. A research presentation by Ahmedabad University doctoral student Satya Oza examines how drivers tactically switch between ride-hailing apps, negotiate fares, rely on informal networks, and adapt to changing urban and digital systems on their own terms. Presented at the 9th Annual South Asia Conference at Dublin City University, hosted by the Ireland India Institute, the study highlights how Ahmedabad’s decades-old autorickshaw network is responding to platform-driven mobility. It challenges dominant narratives around gig work by showing workers not as passive participants, but as active decision-makers constantly reworking systems to survive and sustain livelihoods. Our alumna Manushi Pandya, BA (Hons) Psychology, Class of 2023, is set to pursue her PhD at the University of California, Berkeley. Manushi began her research journey at Ahmedabad University, where she built a strong interdisciplinary foundation through her major in Psychology and minors in Social and Political Sciences and Philosophy. Her academic journey was further shaped through undergraduate research with Professor Nithin George, followed by a research assistantship with Professor Divita Singh and a research internship with Professor Meera Sunny at IIT Gandhinagar. Her academic training at Ahmedabad University led her to pursue an MS in Psychology at Arizona State University, where her work explored how language shapes subjective experience. Her research ranged from conceptual metaphors across cultures to understanding inner speech and visual imagery among individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder. At UC Berkeley, she will pursue her PhD and work with Professor Mahesh Srinivasan in the Language and Cognition Lab, engaging with questions around language, cognition, social development, and how humans construct meaning and mental models. From Ahmedabad to Arizona to Berkeley, Manushi’s journey reflects how curiosity, research, and interdisciplinary learning can shape meaningful academic pathways across the world. Congratulations to Manushi on her achievement, and best wishes for her doctoral journey ahead.

Leadership today demands more than functional expertise. It requires the ability to think critically, work collaboratively, and navigate complex business environments with confidence. For our recent MBA graduate, Devam Vasani, this journey at Ahmedabad University translated into an opportunity at Flipkart as Team Lead – Operations, a role focused on seller onboarding, account management, and driving business growth. Reflecting on his experience at Ahmedabad University, he highlights how interdisciplinary learning, practical exposure through projects, presentations, and internships, and a collaborative academic environment helped shape his personal and professional growth. From analytical thinking and problem-solving to communication and teamwork, the learning extended beyond the classroom into real-world applications. These are also the foundations of The Ahmedabad MBA, a programme designed within a comprehensive University to prepare students for dynamic leadership roles through rigorous academics, experiential learning, and interdisciplinary engagement. Congratulations to Devam on this achievement, and best wishes as he begins his journey at Flipkart.
