@georgiedorothea 30 little niggles of "oh god i need to reply to [person 1 of 30]", for years, and often the reason I'm not replying is because I don't *need* to, because we're not actually significant players in each other's lives, and that's ok! 😅
English

@alexislearning I like this, minimize the open loops, a strategic take, it makes sense as to why a half played song stays in my mind all day until I play it now (as the same for bigger life situations left unresolved)
English

@HunterGlenn Oh awesome ok!!! So astrology is like, the mostly likely personality typing system that someone else will know, it’s a good schelling point to hang out at
English

@alexislearning Like a schelling point; if we know we need to meet, but can't communicate to say where, we can independently deduce what *possible* places we could meet, and then also deduce which one the *other* person might pick, and then act in faith, show up in hope that the other did too
English

@alexislearning Yeah, but that validity makes it a schelling point for those attempting acausal coordination

I am obsessed with her of course

hell yeah, thank you! I've also had Gemini Deep Research generate some reports for me, used the prompt:
What should I prompt you to get these best help re: this:
"I want to become conversant in astrology. What is the progression of learning in order to get the basics understood?
I'm thinking about the Dreyfus skill levels here. Right now, I don't know anything at all. I'd like to get fluent in the basic concepts so that I can use it in my thinking, and talk to people about it."

I'd recc learning about the houses earlier rather than later. for some reason, most entry level stuff I was interfacing with seemed to stop at planet + sign, but you need all three (planets, signs, and houses) to make sense of the chart.
houses are determined by myriad systems. two are primary for tropical (I consider beginner) astrology:
- whole sign iirc is what people were using for millennia -> it's more traditional (and simpler)
- placidus was enabled by modern technology iirc -> it's newer and more accurate to the actual position of celestial bodies in the sky.
- there are so many others and I do not fw them
both house systems are useful for different scenarios of analysis, I haven't learned fully in which different ways to use them and the differences are too slight for me to notice at my level of understanding.
I treat it like tarot, giving me trailheads/prompts for analysis of questions relating to my broad life story (birth chart) or the current energetic vibe of my time and locality (current planets). I also cross reference these sometimes.
You should find a platonic astrology friend to have yaps with, it will take you further than trying to wade thru all the internet info on your own since practices are so diverse.
Other trailheads are aspects and transits. I have transits bookmarked as a particularly important concept for me to learn. I'm currently nibbling on those two things.
I started by nibbling on the characters of the signs (that are in my chart, first), the planets, and then the houses.
astro-seek is really good for free info. I usually have my birth chart in whole sign, a birth chart in placidus, and a current planets tab open on my phone browser. Reading below your birth chart can give you a lot of info on your placements.

@alexislearning would you be open to a brief blurb of a few things that I learned chatting w astrologers that made astro ~useful for my practice?
