But then T-Hex goes from 9 to 5 Piltover star levels? Veigar from 2 Deathcaps to 1? Tahm Kench from 450 to 250 serpents? These aren't balance adjustments, they're removing the challenge entirely.
5-cost unlock should feel like endgame

Follow up from yesterdays post about unlocks changing in 16.6.
The first batch of changes will be heading to PBE either later today or tomorrow, but wanted to give everyone the first glimpse of what we are changing. Attached is the full list of every planned unlock change. If it's not listed, assume it is not changing.
Next, let's talk about follow up changes. We know we can't just make these changes and call it a day, and they will have impacting effects on balance. The balance changes won't be on PBE quite yet (team is working on it), but some stuff you can expect include:
-Shadow Isles scaling adjusted so the champs are better base units and not as reliant on souls
-Ixtal nerfs to compensate for easier access to their 4 costs
-Veigar and 8 Yordle nerfs
-Prismatic quest augments reworked or disabled
-General balance for all the champs based on their accessibility
-and more!
I'll also note that these are NOT final. One of the reasons we're getting them to PBE ASAP is to be able to have time to respond to feedback. If folks end up with some strong negative feels after trying them out, we'll be sure to adjust before our patch locks.
If you end up playing these on PBE, give us feedback. We'll be paying pretty close attention to things like scrims. And all the changes will be LOCKED by next Wednesday so if you are looking for stable practice, after that day will be the best.

@RiotMeddler In all honesty if WASD turns out much better than click to move in aspects like kiting, so be it.
I don't see this as anything different than introducing a new mechanic to which players ( including pro-players ) need to adapt to.
Maybe WASD is the future we need to adapt to.

Hey folks,
WASD should be enabled on PBE tomorrow, so we wanted to share a bit more on how we’re thinking about it based on recent conversations. We believe WASD can help many new players fall in love with League the same way we all did, which is why we see it as an important long-term alternate control scheme.
That said, we understand it’s a change and there are a lot of details we need to get right. WASD will stay on PBE as we test, tune, and prove out a strong balance philosophy. There’s no live date yet, we want to just focus on getting it right on PBE first.
The first balance levers we’re planning to test are:
- Making it so that if you’re using WASD and just holding down movement + attacking constantly your swing timer is somewhat delayed
- WASD movement not animation cancelling at the earliest possible frame
- Nerfing attack speed if you’re using WASD and just constantly holding movement keys down
In each of those cases we’re testing ways that WASD can still feel good to use and as effective as click to move if executed properly, while also rewarding mechanical skill and not being an overly dominant control scheme. Our goal is to keep the game fair between control schemes, we don’t want nobody to feel forced to use a control scheme they don’t like to remain competitive. This isn’t about replacing what works. It’s about offering a real choice for players who prefer a different control style. You may notice when someone is using WASD, but that should never overall be a net advantage or disadvantage.
