St Petersburg City Court in Russia has designated the Russian LGBTI Network an “extremist organisation.” This makes the third ruling of this kind within a month, with other LGBTI groups, Coming Out and the LGBT Resource Centre, being given the same "extremist" label last month. This further exacerbates Russia’s persecution of the so-called 'international LGBT movement.’ Russian authorities must immediately stop misusing anti-extremism legislation to repress LGBTI people and reverse all homophobic policies.

#Lebanon: Civilians who have remained in their homes in villages in southern #Lebanon in Bint Jbeil district, are increasingly isolated and unable to access basic necessities, including humanitarian aid, medical care, food, water, and fuel, due to Israeli restrictions preventing aid convoys from reaching villages, attacks on medical and rescue workers & unsafe routes. Residents in southern Lebanon told @amnesty that humanitarian aid convoys have almost ceased in recent days. And those who wish to leave for areas north of the Litani River are afraid to do so due to Israel's bombardment of bridges and unsafe alternative routes. Parties to the conflict, including the #Israeli military and #Hezbollah, must facilitate safe passage for civilians wishing to leave conflict areas, ensure unfettered access to humanitarian aid for those remaining, and allow medics and ambulances to reach and treat the ill and wounded. #Israel must not arbitrarily block humanitarian aid convoys. People who remain in southern Lebanon must have adequate access to food, water, medical care and essential supplies.

European leaders are all dismayed by Israel's "disproportionate" attacks on Lebanon yesterday. Where have they been for the last month? Were the targeting of health and civilian infrastructures, the killing of some over 1116 people killed, including 121 children, the one million people displaced, the ground troops and threat of a "buffer zone" - insufficient hints? What about the genocide of Palestinians in Gaza, the de facto annexation of the West Bank, the incredible level of violence directed at Palestinians throughout the occupied territory, the adoption of a racialised death penalty bill applicable to Palestinians only - mere incidents? Enough with these diplomatic platitudes which have done nothing to stop a genocide, unlawful attacks, the killings of civilians and the destruction of their homes and communities. It is more than time, beyond time, for the EU/Israel association agreement to be suspended.
