Nel conflitto ucraino, Palantir è l’esempio più avanzato di come l’intelligenza artificiale stia passando da strumento di supporto a vera e propria leva offensiva. Palantir è in campo dal 2022 e Karp ha rivendicato che Kiev utilizza i suoi algoritmi come “un sistema operativo” per condurre la guerra e calcolare “quanti soldati russi vengono uccisi per chilometro quadrato”. I suoi software non si limitano a raccogliere dati: li integrano, li interpretano e li trasformano in decisioni operative, rendendo possibile individuare obiettivi, pianificare attacchi e coordinare l’uso dei droni con una rapidità senza precedenti. I sistemi di Palantir funzionano come una sorta di “sistema operativo della guerra”, in grado di integrare fonti diverse – immagini satellitari, feed dei droni, intelligence militare e open source – per restituire una visione unificata e immediatamente utilizzabile del campo di battaglia. È su questa base che vengono prese decisioni operative, dalla pianificazione degli attacchi all’identificazione degli obiettivi. In questo senso, l’Ucraina non è solo un teatro di guerra ma un banco di prova per il futuro dei conflitti.
