.@jaketapper is correct. The Epstein plea deal occurred in 2008 under then-U.S. Attorney Alex Acosta. Mullin also states in this interview that Bondi can’t release the files because the judge blocked grand jury information from being released. It is correct that the Justice Department can’t disclose grand jury information, BUT Jake is correct that the Justice Department can release case information that doesn’t contain GJ transcripts or that is redacted/doesn’t contain classified or sensitive info. It definitely goes against department norms, but Bondi promised it and hasn’t followed the norms of the department thus far.
