My dad passed away two weeks ago after a long battle with a few illnesses. I know this platform is not a diary, and I mostly keep the focus on films, but I wanted to take a moment to observe the loss of a good man who encouraged my love of movies.💔

If you just found out your music is in AI datasets, please don’t listen to anyone who tells you it’s too late to act / it’s not worth defending your rights. AI companies win by convincing you there’s nothing you can do to stop them. You can: - sue (there are ongoing class action lawsuits you can join) - publicly tell AI companies & their employees that you object (their employees don’t actually want the world’s musicians to hate them) - spread the word, tell your fans (public sentiment is the best way to keep AI companies in check)

Emerald Fennell’s ‘WUTHERING HEIGHTS’ is now on HBO Max.

This is huge and welcome news in the world of AI music. Two of the biggest music distributors are banning music from Suno and other AI music companies they call "pirate studios". They will allow AI music that comes from products that license training data, but not from products that don't. (These distributors are what you use to get your music on Spotify etc.) Believe's CEO said he doesn't understand why other distributors aren't doing the same. "Anyone distributing copyright-infringing content is liable for copyright infringement [action]." Some will want them to ban all AI music, and I understand that. @UKLabour If you want to protect the arts industry, you should commit not to weaken copyright law to benefit AI companies. This is what the arts industry is vocally and uniformly asking you to do.
