Dr. Hossam Abu Safiya, a Palestinian doctor, was arrested from inside Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza while treating injured civilians affected by Israeli strikes. The Israeli forces repeatedly demanded that he leave the hospital and threatened to bomb it, but Dr. Hossam refused to abandon the wounded. In 2024, he was arrested without any charges. He was placed in a closed, underground solitary confinement cell without even basic bedding, even during the winter. Currently, his health condition is extremely critical. He has lost more than 40 kilograms of his body weight due to deliberate starvation and very poor food (such as only two spoonfuls of rice per day and small amounts of bread). In addition, he suffers from irregular heartbeats, high blood pressure, vision problems, and skin diseases, including scabies. He has also been subjected to severe physical and psychological torture, beatings, humiliation, and denial of medical treatment. Four of his ribs have been broken. Dr. Hossam Abu Safiya’s situation is the same as that of more than 20,000 Palestinians inside Israeli prisons. We want their voices to reach the world right now, their suffering is shaking everything. Do not hesitate, friends make their voices heard across the entire world.
