I am joining over 60 of my colleagues in calling for systemic change at @CA_EDD. We have seen little to no progress over the course of the pandemic & 1.13 million Californians are still waiting on benefits. The situation at EDD is unacceptable.

Reminder (for those who clearly need it): *every* American citizen has the right to #vote.

Now, more than ever, communities deserve more time. My #AB2037 extends the notification period for hospitals planning to downgrade services, change services, or close, to 180 days — 6 months. Proud to share AB 2037 passed the Sen. Health Cmte! TY to @SenatorLeyva for presenting.

And communities in my district know all too well the costs that come with hospital closures — we are still dealing with the loss of Doctors Medical in San Pablo — and Alta Bates in Berkeley, where I just delivered my second daughter, is under continued threat of closure.

Right now, CA hospitals planning on closing or downgrading services are only required to give 90 days notice — just 3 months for communities to voice their concerns, find alternatives for critical care, & make plans to adjust to meet their needs. This is simply not enough time.

We’re in the midst of an unprecedented housing and homelessness crisis in California — #AB2406 is simple legislation that would allow us to have greater insight into our state’s rental market, and protect renters. Let's get it done! #AB2406 @LAist @KPCC laist.com/latest/post/20…

Unlike home ownership, there's no statewide rental database. My #AB2406 changes that, requiring landlords w/5+ units to report—once/yr—simple info they already have. And this one has a new, added incentive: if a landlord fails to register—they can't raise rents or evict tenants.

"If at first..." Last year, I was disappointed my rental registry bill failed. But in the time since, I’ve become more convinced than ever—that to protect tenants from bad acting landlords &  create housing policies that work—we need a clearer picture of our rental market in CA.
