It’s time for scale: Astranis adds $450 million in new capital to meet surging demand for advanced high-orbit spacecraft. Dedicated communications infrastructure is no longer optional. Demand is spiking from countries and governments that are moving away from aging, shared GEO communications satellites. They require dedicated satellites and networks they control, which is something that can only be provided from GEO. This capital enhances our ability to meet demand from our commercial customer base around the world, and importantly we are now spooling up to support multiple US Government programs of record simultaneously. We’ve now been selected as Prime for the initial phase of 3 separate Programs of Record— PTS-G, Resilient GPS, and RG-XX/Andromeda. And we’re just getting started. More in the comments.

Our TVAC chamber recreates the brutal extremes of orbit: heat, cold, and vacuum. Testing is done on Earth so our team can iterate and ship satellites with speed. Testing components and satellites at our Northern California factory lets us move fast to launch. 🛰️

Visual inspection isn't enough. That's why every critical part at Astranis goes through inspection on our ZEISS CMM. The part is fixtured, probe paths are programmed, and thousands of measurement points are checked against the CAD model. The CMM then generates a detailed report to verify every feature is within tolerance before the part passes quality inspection.

📷 From a 5lb block of aluminum to flight hardware. On the DMG Mori DMU 40, we take a raw block down to a precision aerospace part in two setups. First, a 5-axis dovetail fixture holds it for 4-axis simultaneous roughing, swarf cutting to 50-micron profile tolerance, and 3D surfacing, finishing every outer surface and critical datum in one clamping. Then we flip into a custom in-house fixture and hollow the core to 1mm walls with adaptive roughing, plunge finishing, and long-reach tooling, finished off with 5-axis deburring. Real hardware, built in-house, headed to orbit.

Satellite communication is entering a new era. At Astranis, we believe the future lies in fully customizable, dedicated satellites in geosynchronous orbit (GEO) that deliver maximum control, reliability, and performance to our customers. 🛰️ Our Software-Defined Radio (SDR) technology is key to our path to scale and the reason we can push updates directly to our satellites while they're already in orbit.

These tubes carry propellant to our thrusters and are inspected and leak-checked before they ever touch the spacecraft. With these thrusters, we're able to maintain, move and maneuver as needed around space. By taking tube bending in house, we're removing manufacturing bottlenecks and getting to space faster.

The key to precision in manufacturing small, complex parts is the Matsuura MX-330. With a full 5-axis, setups are condensed for better accuracy, staying rigid and precise. This is American manufacturing. 🇺🇲

Flight software continually checks memory, compares sensor measurements, and scans for behavior that doesn’t make physical sense. From Network Services to Flight Controls, our software teams are solving these complex challenges on our satellites over 22,000 miles away. We’re hiring software engineers who want to take ownership and produce high-impact code at speed.
