#OTD 1946 - Joe Garagiola (20-years-old) makes his MLB debut with the Cardinals as they beat the Reds 4-3 at Crosley Field. The kid who grew up on "The Hill", across the street from Yogi Berra, will start at catcher and go 1 for 4. #STLCards

#OTD 1926 - After a fan’s nose was broken by a Jim Bottomley home run, the fan sued. In court, “Sunny Jim” was forced to admit that he “intentionally hit the ball to create a situation known as a home run.” He actually lost this case and was fined. #STLCards

#OTD 2024 - Tony Scott died at the age of 72 in Cincinnati, OH. Scott played for the Cardinals from 1977 to 1981. His best season with the team was 1979, when he hit .259 with 6 home runs, 68 RBI's and collected 152 hits. #STLCards

#OTD 1978 - The Cardinals acquire George Hendrick from the Padres for Eric "Don't call me Harry" Rasmussen. "Silent George" provided much needed power for the "Whiteyball" era teams and played a strong defense while winning 2 Silver Slugger awards. His game 7 go-ahead hit in the 1982 World Series proved to be the game winning hit! #STLCards

#OTD 1928 - Benjamin J. Brinkman announced plans for a complex of buildings on Oakland Avenue in St Louis. His plan was to make the complex the permanent home of the National Dairy Show. The central building was to be called "The Arena." Later, fans just called it the "Old Barn" #stlblues

#OTD 1992 - Ozzie Smith legs out a classic Busch Stadium triple for his 2,000th career hit. The loud and long standing ovation from the fans and teammates got Smith emotional. #STLCards @STLWizard

#OTD 1953 - The Cardinals sign their first black player, Len Tucker. Tucker signed a $3,000 professional contract with St Louis but the outfielder will never get called up to the big leagues. The next season, Tom Alston (2nd photo) will become the first black player in St. Louis Cardinals history on April 13. #STLCards @nlbmprez

#OTD 2013 - Light-hitting Pete Kozma, faces one the best pitchers of his era in Clayton Kershaw, and goes 4-for-4 including 3 doubles. He also added 3 RBIs in a 5-3 Cardinals victory at Dodger Stadium. #STLCards

Cardinals are the least boring team on the league. Youngest team in the league fighting for the division when they were supposed to be a horrendous team
