@joebarnard There needs to be a downvote system on here. Low quality bait/grift needs a way to be suppressed. Community notes is a band aid that still allows the garbage to be boosted

I used to have a lot more fun on this website. Hot take though; I don't think it's only because of the changes Elon has made. I've just been growing more grossed out by the way social media(not just X) pushes people to fight over shit that doesn't matter

just like how airports have quiet rooms they should also have loud rooms where you can let it all out before getting back to it all

@FlamingAUS The best part is the airport's online wait tracker has also been unreliable during the entire ordeal

@DatniggaDay @thenormlife_ @laurynsage the state should just fund an expansion into those counties. They can still operate their own local transit systems, but having a rail connection to the population center would be nice

@thenormlife_ @laurynsage Counties like cobb, and gwinette and clayton voted against it, so far clayton is the only one to change their minds.

@wanderingdave @IGoBySteve I can only predict that they will try and do this as cheap as possible by using much of SL county's buildings and infrastructure which would only end up causing more frustration. So in the end it will be a glorified HOA

@IGoBySteve Mostly vibes ? I think the southern sections argument is mostly that they have not historically gotten as much attention and resources which is maybe somewhat true. And of course party politics.

Interested to learn more about the process to split Salt Lake County. With SL just recently buying a new property for their HQ in Midvale it's kind of funny to me. Logistically I wonder how it would actually work and whether the citizens would actually be better off.

@Kam7810 @stevehill3096 Seriously, imagine if the state started kicking in funds. It already has good bones relying on local taxes alone

@Nullimus @thomdesirant You just described how we elect senators. If all the districts are the same, then there's no point in having district boundaries. So they might as well be state wide elections at that point. Needless to say both major parties in Utah need fair representation

Wow you jumped way past my suggestion and I am not talking about redistricting. That is meant to be at the purview of the legislature and prop 4 needs to be killed. On redistricting I would say the only nonbiased method would be to district in a way that makes every district mirror the overall partisanship of the state. Every district should have the same party breakdown as the state as a whole. I am talking about eliminating the conflict of interest that is presented when an elected official is responsible to oversee their reelection.

I don't understand the logic of their argument. We elect the LG, and the claim is she influenced the elections in her favor. If you elect a SoS, you get the same thing, an elected official who could influence the election they oversee.
Carsen Cooper@carsenlcooper

Deidre Henderson wants us to trust our election officials, but she was, and will be, in charge of her own election. To fix this, pass H.B. 529 and give Utah a Secretary of State so we may minimize perverse incentives in our government!

Curious to see if my Amtrak lovers are still here after the 1.5-year hiatus I took. A multi-hour-late Amtrak goes east towards Salt Lake City on a Friday afternoon. With the Cedar Mountains in the background

@dpoddolphinpro @NASAAdmin The wording for Apollo 6 threw me for a loop. It was never intended to fly around the moon. It was intended for TLI burn that would then be aborted

Here's how the Apollo & Artemis timelines compare, if you align Apollo 4, the first flight of the Saturn V, with Artemis I, the first flight of SLS. According to @NASAAdmin, this triennial launch rate is "not a pathway to success." An acceleration to a launch every 10 months would be a big improvement. Inserting a new LEO test mission between the lunar flyby and landing improves the launch rate, in addition to decreasing risk for the landing mission, now Artemis IV. SLS is the only vehicle capable of sending humans to the moon which currently exists. An acceleration in flight rate builds momentum, and could extract its maximum value before commercial options enter service. Food for thought: if Apollo 4 launched when Artemis I launched, the 3rd Moon landing, Apollo 14, would have launched on February 7th. This generation's Apollo 8 - my generation's Apollo 8 - is still on the ground.

@wanderingdave Braves really messed by moving away from easy MARTA access. At least the power district will be way more connected to transit.

The Battery is what LHM / the power district want to somewhat model their potential stadium after. The Battery seems to be a pretty successful business model even if it does seem pretty sterile/soulless corporate vibes.

The Atlanta Braves just released 2025 earnings: • Record $732 million in revenue • Baseball generated $635 million • Real estate brought in $97 million But after digging into the details, it looks like the team might soon be put up for sale. READ: huddleup.substack.com/p/inside-the-a…

@bikelakecity This either means that that the scope has changed, in which case we'd expect a new project profile submitted to the FTA, or the state is trying to increase the project rating with the FTA by taking on more of the cost. Would be seen in an upcoming grant dashboard update
