Today, I had the honour of welcoming a group of Dutch and Ukrainian veterans who carried the Liberation Fire from Wageningen. Together, we honoured the memory of those who gave their lives for freedom in the past, including Ukrainians who lost their lives defending their country against Russia’s genocidal war of aggression. This powerful act is more than a symbol – it is a bridge between our nations. It reminds us that freedom must be defended, renewed, and passed on to future generations. May this flame remind us of our shared duty and strengthen our hope for a just and lasting peace for Ukraine, Europe, and all democratic nations. I am sincerely grateful to 🇳🇱MoD State Secretary @DerkBoswijk @DefensieStas for his powerful speech and continued support for Ukraine. Special thanks to @RobinImthorn for initiating and leading this meaningful action, and to all Dutch and Ukrainian veterans who made this journey possible. My heartfelt thanks also go to Netherlands for Ukraine and all the volunteers supporting our defenders.
