FortisAlberta currently estimates that power will be restored to affected areas in #Banff by 6 p.m. The Fenlands Rec Centre was not affected and all programs and arenas are running as usual tonight.

The Town of Banff is aware of an unplanned power outage affecting large areas in town. FortisAlberta has sent a crew to address the issue. A power line has been reported down along the Bow River Trail on the south side. This outage is not related to planned work to relocate an Osprey nest west of town. Starting Monday, October 7, Glen Avenue, between the Trading Post and YWCA, will be closed to vehicle traffic for planned electrical and bridge repairs, until April 2025. Detours will be in place. Access for pedestrians and cyclists will be maintained as much as possible

The wind storm that took out power to folks in @Banff_Town last night resulted in damage to six poles. Our local crew with additional support from other locations and contractors has been making good progress on the repairs and pole replacements throughout the day. Power will be gradually restored to customers throughout the evening as each section is safely completed. Thank you for your continued patience and understanding.
