The A's were forced to spend because of a revenue sharing violation. The Sox were in Luxury tax hell post 2019, saddled with bad money owed to aging/injured players from years of reckless spending. They changed their entire organizational philosophy and had miserable seasons while waiting out the bad money that simply couldn't be moved. They've built a powerhouse farm system with elite prospects and high upside depth at all levels. And now as it's about to bare fruit the fan base just expects them to scrap it in favor of overpaying for veteran free agents. Seriously?

I don’t trust the Red Sox to lock up any free agents to multi year deals. They’re a cheap organization. They’ve been out spent this offseason by the Oakland As. Pathetic.

@chatham58 While you are 100% right that no team wins without a franchise QB, you could make a strong argument that the Patriots had a Franchise QB (rookie Mac) that was then perpetually put in position to fail. Personnel decisions (both players and coaches) matter and clearly affected Mac.

#Patriots don’t (& clearly haven’t) had a franchise-level NFL QB for 3 yrs. Nobody wins anything in this league w/out one…look around, pay attention, learn. Campaigning to get rid of a great coach who’s not had that essential piece—who’s about to have a front row seat to get one—is something only a child or fool would do. IMO one should avoid the temptation to be childish &/or foolish…despite its prevalence.
