Yesterday 21 Finnish master students visited us at the Facultat de Ciències de la Terra and meet some of the Barcelona Student Chapter members. We wish them a nice trip and we hope that they had a nice time with us. Thank you so much! ❤️🇫🇮

It is with profound sadness that we report the passing of Brian Hoal on the morning of March 20 after a protracted battle with cancer. He served as Executive Director for the last 23 years, ushering SEG into the 21st century with unwavering commitment and astute leadership.

We also explained a bit about the research project that we are doing there. The students also saw the mineralizations of copper, mainly malachite and azurite. We hope students enjoyed this class in the field and see them in the future in geology degree!!

Last Tuesday, some of the members of the BCN Student Chapter accompanied the students of 1st and 2nd of Baccalaureate of Institut Antoni Pous (@INSAntoniPous) to El Turó de la Enclusa (Taradell, Catalonia), where we described how geologists work in the field.

The following week, we had the chance to take a look at different samples of thin sections corresponding to different typologies. We want to thank David Allepuz and Dr Jordi Lorca for the interest and dedication they put to organize this short course.

The past two Mondays we did the theoretical and practical sessions of the meteorites course. During the theoretical session, we learned how these extraterrestrial bodies are classified and how meteorites can be found in the field.

We announce that we are doing the short course about meteorites again! It consist of a theoritical part (16th of may) and a practical part (23rd of may). You will fins the link for the registration form in our bio. We hope to see you there!

Today we went to Enclusa Hill (Taradell, Catalonia) to collect samples of copper mineralization for our research project in this area.

Aquest divendres us esperem al Symposium organitzat per @BcnSGASEGSC. Alumnes de grau, màster i PhD exposaran els projectes en els que estan treballant. També es comptarà amb la participació del Dr. Joan Carles Melgarejo, la Dra. Cristina Villanova i el Dr. Joaquín Proenza.
