I made a terrible mistake. Jaclyn left out the rendered duck fat to cool off, and I mistook it for a dirty pan and poured out all the delicious fat. No duck fat fries, eggs, duck fat biscuits or random duck fat fried goodness. I feel like the dad in Christmas Story when Bumpus dogs devoured the turkey ... only this one was my fault.

Further, the "vast quantity of liquid" in a pint is just slightly over one-and-a-half swigs more than a two-thirds.

If, as the writer says, a half-pint may be consumed in "two-and-a-half swigs" -- equaling four ounces per swig -- then by her own calculations, her superior beer measure, the two-thirds, is less than one swig more. theguardian.com/commentisfree/…

@brunnenbraeu @LCBO I talk about that in the review. For me, freeze distillation makes it more spirit than beer.

@maximmorin I mean generally speaking, as in chain bars and restaurants, big downtown operations, and the like. I can only think of one place in my downtown Toronto neighbourhood that doesn't have craft on tap, whereas I went into many downtown Mtl spots that only offered majors and imports.

When you get back to Montreal and basically every brewpub/taproom has an IPA, a few lagers, saisons, one esoteric dark beer, and a copious amount of wheat beers on their extremely balanced menus 🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹

@maximmorin Much as I love Montreal, it's in the Dark Ages in regard to the general availability of craft.

@maximmorin 'Beer scene' is a loaded phrase implying an effort being made to get flavourful beer, ie: going to a specific neighborhood like the Plateau. The key to craft beer success is being able to get decent beer anywhere, which I think is true of Toronto, Vancouver, Victoria, etc.
