On Thursday, 68 Year 9 Latin students travelled to London to explore the cultural legacy the Romans left in Britain and to discuss how multiculturalism shaped the world of Roman Britain. They had a fantastic day visiting London Mithraeum and Borough Market amongst other places.

Yesterday 15 bands competed in BLMK’s Battle of the Bands at @StablesMK. Evan, Charlie, Annabel, Rory and Harry - who together make up Edith Dog – placed second after two superb performances. A fantastic achievement as they were up against some excellent and exciting local bands.

Today our Junior School students celebrated @WorldBookDayUK. Adorned with something relating to their chosen book they enjoyed 'Reading Cafés' in venues around the school building and the Reading Competition Grand Final held in the Christopher Fry Hall. What a fabulous day!

Year 12 student Tana visited the House of Commons on Friday for @UKYP's annual sitting. As the Elected Member of Youth Parliament for Bedford Borough and on behalf of the young people in Bedford, Tana spoke about why votes for 16 and 17-year-olds should be the UKYP's priority.

It was such a joy to welcome so many former students and members of staff to the OBM London Lunch at the House of Commons today. It was a fabulous event enjoyed in prestigious surroundings. A huge thank you to everyone who came and made the event such a success. #bmscommunity

Yesterday Year 12 business students had a tour of MINI Plant Oxford where road-ready MINI model parts are made. They saw how c1000 MINI cars a day are manufactured using flow production and just-in-time delivery of components and also where robotics are used to ensure quality.

One of our fabulous student bands, Edith Dog, has made it through to the BLMK Battle of the Bands at @StablesMK on 06 March. This comes as a result of their outstanding performance against some tough competition at the Breakthrough Bedford event this month at @BedfordEsquires.

We are absolutely delighted for talented Year 9 footballer Casey who has signed for @LCFC academy. His contract is for the remainder of the under 14’s season and both the U15 and U16 seasons. What an amazing achievement. We look forward to following him on his sporting journey.

Recently Teams ACE and Silver Speed (Years 8 and 9) competed in the Development Class and Red Eagle Racing, Year 12 students, in the Professional Class of the @f1inschoolsUK Regional Finals at @AstonUniversity. Red Eagle Racing are still in the running for the National Finals!

Bedford Esquires has played host to acts such as Coldplay and George Ezra. Last night the BMS stars of the future took to the stage in Open Mic Night. Senior school students rocked the house with hits from Birdy and the Beatles to Harry Styles and Jamiroquai. A brilliant night!

Year 6 students were enthralled today by @youngshakeco's performance of Hamlet. They spent the morning predicting, understanding and performing a complex Shakespearian plot and using the language of the time and reciting quotes they followed the story to its tragic ending.

On 29 January 94 students in Years 9-11 entered the UK Intermediate #Maths Challenge, 76 achieved an award and 27 received Gold placing them in the top 10% in the country. Dirosan, Year 9, excelled and qualified for the Olympiad round. Read more: bit.ly/4hE8WXm

Today is #InternationalDayofWomenandGirlsinScience. Our Sixth Form scientists regularly inspire the next generation through our Science Outreach programme. 150 children have so far tried out hands-on activities including the hair-raising Van der Graaff generator! #rolemodels

Congratulations to Alex, Year 13, who will begin a degree apprenticeship in August working as an Audit and Accounts Junior at MHA in Milton Keynes, an independent UK member of Baker Tilly International. There he will work towards chartered accountant status. #NAW25 #SkillsForLife

The grey skies didn’t dampen our rowers’ enthusiasm at #BedfordEightsandFours Head today. Across all age groups they showed commitment and determination as they tackled the almost 2km down-stream course on the River Great Ouse. The cheers of support were very much appreciated!

Year 3 students had a fantastic day of scientific inquiry this week exploring and classifying a variety of rocks and minerals. A highlight was recreating the 2004 Boscastle flood in which they built their own miniature villages and designed flood defences - with varying results!

We were thrilled to welcome British Paralympic swimmer Maisie Summers-Newton MBE to BMS last week. During her visit she coached some of our youngest students in the pool before delivering an inspirational assembly in the Junior School about her life and career. #RoleModel

On Monday, for the first time, students scaled the brand-new climbing wall in the Sports Hall. As we now have qualified teachers at BMS, the first group of GCSE PE students were able to use the facility to see if they would like to pursue rock #climbing as one of their sports.

On Friday, Year 12 Politics students enjoyed an informative trip to Westminster to deepen their understanding of UK Politics. It included the #SupremeCourt, #HousesofParliament and 10 Downing Street as well as career insights from OBMs Josh Forrester, Toby Smith and Robert Kraus.
