⭐ GO! THE MUSICAL - UPSTAIRS AT THE GATEHOUSE ⭐ I popped along to the press night of the brand new musical Go! - The Musical last night, at one of my favourite fringe venues, Upstairs At The Gatehouse ✨ Go! The Musical retells the "messy" bit of Exodus, and Moses struggle after freeing the slaves, flipping between his past and present ✨ The definite highlight of this production is the wonderful cast that has been assembled, led by Harel Glazer, with his passionate portrayal as Moses. Ayesha Patel stars as Zipporah, and acts as the shows narrator. They are joined by the fantastic ensemble Rushand Chambers, Michali Dantes, Dora Gee, Mikko Juan and Noah Sinigaglia ✨ The stand out performance for me was Alexandra Doar as the Pharaoh, who you could tell was definitely having fun with the role ✨ Always lovely to see fresh talent, though I am a fan of many of the performers involved after seeing their previous work, I was especially a fan of the gorgeous vocals on display in this show ✨ Other highlights for me was the frantic choreography by Sinead Donnelly, and lovely arrangements and orchestrations by Ben Barrow, beautiful harmonies from the cast elavating the material ✨ There's definitely room for improvement, I wasn't sold on the storytelling device, it became muddled at times and think this could work better as a slimmed down, more focused one act musical ✨ There were some lovely songs though by Adam Taylor, my favourite being the atmospheric opening number ✨ If you're a fan of new musical theatre and religious musicals, Go!
