@logue_phil @JakeWolki @GlendaAbra18088 I can’t comment on this mate just an interesting fact that had stayed in my mind from looking into their sheep. Considering they are ran on the same farm by the same management Id struggle to think of many other variables that could alter the outcome.

Lots of discussion around circumcision on X these last couple days? Now that everyone has voiced their opinion on mutilating children, how about animals next? Docking tails, mulesing, cutting horns, debeaking etc Same same or different (#3 question I get asked from consumers - after chemical use and slaughter process) At least with docking, mulesing, dehorning and debeaking etc there is a potential positive outcomes for the animal. Sure, today we are sophisticated enough to breed and manage around these issues today, but these actions were well intentioned for the animals long term welfare. But.. with our sons??

@JakeWolki @GlendaAbra18088 Glad you mentioned the SRS merino Jake, must add Parkdale srs stud have a mob of long tailed (undocked) sheep that wean about 30% more lambs than their docked sheep, all their sheep are un-mulesed

@GlendaAbra18088 But can easily be managed around. Breed polled cattle - no need to dehorn. Decrease chicken density - no need to debeak. Breed better genetics (like SRS Merino) - no need to mules. These ideas are as outdated as barbed wire

@mjgoodenco Would love to see some more close up pics Michael, planning to put in a lot of shelterbelts in the future but something like this would be good until they’re established.

With the weather warming up over the past few days, our cows & calves enjoy the mobile shade we provide them, while cell grazing. While the shade is not as good as a tree, it provides an opportunity for a small amount of ultra high density grazing everytime we move it.

Harvest 23 is done and dusted! Yields where about what we expected with 120mm of growing season rainfall with no stored moisture but A fairly smooth harvest with only a couple of minor breakdowns. Big thanks to all involved and here’s hoping to a better season next year!

@vampirepoem @JakeWolki @vampirepoem You gain knowledge and experience by actually giving it a go, and the only equipment you need is a half sharp knife and maybe a hacksaw

funstory. so my father grew up with traditional farming and had to be familiar with killing livestock from a young age and it traumatised him. so idk what you want a bunch of suburbanites to do when they slaughter lambs in the backyard like there's a biblical plague coming
Jacob Wolki@JakeWolki

If you can't afford meat then get to your local livestock auctions and bid! These sheep were sold for $1 each at Wagga. For the price of 1 big mac meal you could buy a years worth of lamb... just need to be willing to roll up your sleeves!

everyone seems to have a grandparent that smoked cigs their whole life, fought in 2 wars, didn't give a sh*t about diet and still lived to 95 years old whereas kids today are practically allergic to the air something toxic has made us more fragile and susceptible to disease

Ok #agtwitter anyone had a cow acting drunk, she’s wobbly on her feet, can’t walk straight, walking into fences and even my bike, scared of the other cows and even her own calf, rest of the cows are fine. Love to hear you thoughts #cows #vet #help #farming

The #clover looking great one month post grazing, first pic was 25th July second pic was the other day. This is the paddocks first year out of crop for a couple years and I didn’t sow anything down, great seed bank I’d say.

Moving the weaners off off a #multispecies #covercrop. This crop should bounce back having plenty of moisture below and heading into spring.

At one time there was estimated to be 50 million bison grazing the Great Grassland ecosystem of America. They were hunted to near extinction. Did the climate improve? Did the earth cool? Of course not. Today, the climate cult demand we destroy modern day cattle herds across the world in much the same way to cool the earth. This makes no sense or logic. It has no basis. What is their agenda?

@bobofthenorth Good idea, this is only a small prototype to see if this foliar urea would work. I’ll build a more substantial setup next year but heat will definitely be included

@BenBickley A little heat would help. Put a coil of black poly pipe in that loop somewhere. On a sunny day 100 feet of black pipe will capture a lot of heat.

Filling up the pump and the nozzle snapped and fuel went everywhere and everything burst into flames. I was able to put myself out quickly and was able to smother the pump with my drizabone before it did any damage. Good reminder to check ALL your equipment for damage before use

Left side got grazed heavily for short period about 8 weeks ago Right side didn’t get touched This shows how animals can stimulate growth when managed correctly as now 8 weeks later the grazed side has overtaken the untouched side. #sheep #grass #regenag #regenerative
