1. Have the same religion and culture. Then you have the same values, morals, and opinions. You’ll have nothing of substance to argue over. Become one flesh. You will fight, you will hurt each other sometimes. But if you have the same values, you know you’re in it for life. And you know you can trust in and believe in the other person because they hold your same moral and religious worldview. 2. Get married YOUNG and broke. Eat the ramen, live check to check, drive the beaters, live in the apartments, and SUFFER with smiles on your faces as you build a life together. When your ship finally comes in and you succeed, you know that the whole time you were suffering, that other person across from you, your spouse, was suffering right there with you and for you. This will create a deep love, admiration and an unmatched level of gratitude for your spouse. When you suffer to build something, it makes it nearly impossible to destroy. 3. Have kids when you’re young, broke, and married. There is no substitute for having children when it comes to teaching a human being selflessness. Children will teach you mercy, and true love without conditions or strings attached. Being a committed parent day in, day out for years will mature you and improve your mindset and outlook on life in ways that nothing else can. 4. Don’t miss the moments, the birthdays, the vacations, the holidays etc. Money is a very important tool and I’m trying to make as much as possible, but keep in mind what you’re going to remember when you’re old, and what your kids are going to remember when they grow up, is sitting around the table having a meal together and everyone laughing and talking. they’re not going to fondly remember when you had to miss the baseball game because you were filling out Excel spreadsheets. It doesn’t take much money to do that and show up for each other every day. Source: met at youth group in church. Married at 18 when I was an overnight worker at Toys “R” Us and she was a waitress. Had kids right away and raised them into very successful adults. We got our degrees, became professionals, and now we run our own business. Our 30 year anniversary is this November. Hook up culture, Situationships, and all the modern dating apps are pure garbage. And lie that you have to be middle class or upper middle class to get married and have kids, These things only make people resentful, angry, and depressed.
