I've been sitting with uncertainty about my research path. Wondering if I've built enough, if I'm credible enough. Last year was a difficult personal season. I couldn't do much. I was just trying to stay afloat. But I looked at my website today and found that even in that season, I was quietly building: validator economics, vote latency, stake delegation. WPRC Lagos: MIP-8: Page-ified Storage Two weeks ago, WPRC Lagos read MIP-8 - Page-ified state storage on EVM. Here's what the room actually talked about 👇 The opening question set the tone: do developers even think about storage when writing smart contracts? That pulled the whole discussion into focus. We asked ‘when does storage cost become real to a dev, and what does it look like when it does?’ We also started the discussion from first principles. SLOAD vs SSTORE, why cold retrieval stays expensive even after a slot turns warm, and why you're always paying for 4KB of page access when EVM only gives you 32 bytes of it. The pricing model was never built for what the chain actually does now. And the point that landed hardest: page-ified storage isn't just a developer optimization, end users pay way less gas. The efficiency goes all the way down. During the discussion, there was also an unanswered question, why Blake3 specifically as the cryptographic hash? Truly brilliant session. Next one is on bridge designs and hacks and we are already looking forward to it.
