Thrilled to have won the @BSCMR young investigator award! This would not have been possible without @gabycaptur from @UCL_ICS/@MRCLHA and prof. Anna Hansell from @uniofleicester. Congratulations to all the finalists for their impactful work and excellent presentations.

@drjohnm And how can we applaud a study that published an analysis that is not consistent with the parallel-group design and didn't recognize serious problems with change from baseline?

I'm always hesitant to use use terms like game changer, but these are the three trials that could have the greatest impact on practice of cardiology, depending on results. Nice summary by @drjohnm sensible-med.com/p/modern-cardi…

@drgocchipinti Thanks for sharing, very interesting. I wonder whether an effect on CV events would be proven specifically due to such liver fat reduction (i.e. vs patients w/ comparable CV risk and no MASLD) or would aspirin just work as expected. Thoughts?

In the context of a progressive attempt to shift away from #aspirin in anti-thrombotic therapy, a preliminary RCT of 80 MASLD patients found that 6 months of daily low-dose aspirin significantly reduced hepatic fat measured by MRS (-6.6%; p=0.09) compared to placebo.

@giandomd @danbrockington @pagomba More journals are there than people think, they are just "hidden" because of the naming convention/shortening. For instance Journal of Clinical Medicine (MDPI) is there, under an abbreviated name "J. Clin. Med.". We will try to find a way to make search more intelligent...

To current screening with some other advantage Merely documenting the sensitivity and specificity of a novel test is nearly pointless. You have no idea how its impact will be in the real world. You don't know it will reduce colorectal cancer death

We have randomized data for FOBT and Fit leverages these data. So what should be the bar for new colorectal cancer test? Obviously randomized control trial data showing that it lowers the risk of colorectal cancer death in addition to current screening, or is non-inferior
