No one should have to beg the government to exercise a constitutionally protected right anywhere in the country. Thank you @Rep_Davidson for cosponsoring HR 645, the National Constitutional Carry Act.

@InterviewsChat I know, right? Also, how do they not get caught every single time? 90% of the reasons I get jobs after an interview is because I am friendly and funny. They just think that the friendly guy they liked in the interview is replaced by a boring scared youngster? I was shocked.

I just got a crazy "sales email" and was asked to consider serving as a "Proxy Interviewee". They want me to "attend a technical interview on behalf of another person" and "answers questions to make it seem like the real candidate has stronger skills than they actually do."

People should "learn to code" if they love programming and want to do that full-time. If you don't "love to code", this is not a good profession for you to attempt. Scamming your way into a job you are unqualified for is wild and it makes me sad.

I've always viewed programming as an art form that I practice. I love the actual activity of writing code to solve problems. If I wasn't a professional engineer, I'd be doing this for free as a hobby. I think we've done a poor job with telling young folks to "learn to code".

3. It is nearly 2026 and browsers are _REALLY_ freaking good now. Please stop treating users like they are clueless idiots. I know how use my computer and have a workflow that I enjoy for serious work and research. I want to be able to right-click -> Open In New Tab on certain tweets and links to be able to queue up a bunch of research. Ctrl-Click works and does this fairly well, but it sucks that even the parts of the post that are clickable and treated as a "link" don't notify the browser that they are links and thus break browser navigational conventions. I've spent way too many years using the "right click -> open new tab" feature on a laptop touchpad and I hate having to remember to use Ctrl-Click just on X. If it's clickable, please do whatever you can to secretly wrap it in an anchor tag so that the user gets to decide how they want to navigate. Then I'd also be able to just "Right-Click -> Copy URL" if I want to share a post instead of having to hunt around for the share button, then click the stupid copy link button.

2. While we're talking about bookmarks, I use them as a way to put together research and stuff in real-time, so I will almost always want to save a bookmark in whatever folder I've saved the last few bookmarks into. It would be really freaking nice if you would automatically assume that if I've selected a bookmark folder in this session, I would want to save all future bookmarks into that same folder unless I otherwise specify a new folder. It can be as simple as "by default, bookmarks will go into whatever folder/category you used last" as the default option, because then I can save a ton of extra clicks every day.

Why does pro.x.com not do the most basic of things I expect out of a "pro" X client? Can I _PLEASE_ be allowed to read the freaking column without your system deciding to re-sort and move posts around randomly as I scroll down the list? Once I start scrolling, stop moving things without my permission. Please and thank you @X and @XEng. If you want to add new content to the top or bottom, that's perfectly fine. Just don't change my current scroll position. I am literally trying to read my feed and I have to play "hunt for where this post was just moved to" 23400 times every day and it's driving me insane.

So... I started trying to configure my other devices to use EFT... and the recommendation for Windows and Android was to use Venezuela Standard Time. 🤣 Apparently, while not being a state sponsor of terror and gang-affiliated hellhole, they beat us to the punch and are already at UTC-4:30. I think the only clear solution here is... instead of blowing up drug smuggling boats and overthrowing their government, we have to beat them at their own game and adopt UTC-4:30 as our east-coast time zone and rename it to: American Freedom Time. Checkmate, Venezuela. We just took your time zone. It belongs to us now.
Eric Harrison@blister

Then to make it permanent: sudo timedatectl set-timezone EFT
