@lexisoupertramp Some people don't seem to realize 13 year olds will be adults and off to college in just five years. They've five years to learn independence and risk assessment, so it's essential they hone those abilities while they're at home.

seeing 13yos called babies is so infuriating as an educator. this is the primary reason there’s a resiliency crisis happening right now-everyone is proudly raising Adult Babies, setting their children up for failure, and then writing think pieces about why they won’t move out.

🆘🆘BATMAN (ID 250245), 3 YO, MALE – IN MANHATTAN ACC - came into the shelter as an owner surrender on 3/22/2026, with the surrender reason stated as animal behavior - not good with resident animals. 🆘🆘 😿 😿 😿 😿 ➡️TBD 4/7/26 ➡️ MEDICAL PRIORITY – NEEDS MORE CARE AND ATTENTION THAN THE SHELTER CAN PROVIDE ➡️ 🆘🆘 1ST Chance on Emergency Placement List – VERY URGENT – 🆘🆘 😱🔥🔥😱 ➡️ 15 DAYS IN SHELTER – TOO LONG – TIME IS RUNNING OUT ➡️ BATMAN IS ON THE EPL FOR MEDICAL REASONS -He has developed a severe URI, conjunctivitis, and has become anorexic. We have been implementing supportive care and have now started him on IV medications, but he has lost weight and his symptoms are significant. He needs more care outside the shelter environment where he can heal and recover. Batman has allowed all handling and has been head bunting during his treatments. Batman needs more care than is possible in a shelter setting. This evaluation/diagnosis means that BATMAN will be given very little time for rescue/foster/adoption. 🔥🔥🔥🔥 Batman interacts with the observer, solicits and appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. No known history of behavioral problems.
