My first tv writing job when I was 21 required the same thing. Any idea you wrote, they'd own it forever. As a result you would NEVER give them ideas you thought were actually good.

I once did a film score and the contract said that they owned every musical idea I had during the period I was working for them. Like they owned my mind. They really are assholes and I hope the strike fucks them up.
