AXIOS: Some top Democrats are quietly debating a fraught question: whether the party's best bet for winning back the presidency in 2028 is to nominate a man — perhaps a straight, White, Christian man. Former first lady Michelle Obama fueled such talk recently, saying the U.S. is "not ready for a woman." Democratic strategists have put it bluntly, with several saying a version of "It has to be a white guy." axios.com/2026/03/29/som…

Say what ya want about Tennessee basketball, but don’t forget that Rick Barnes has completely rebuilt this program from the ground up and turned it into a true New Blood. So so many memories. I try to remember the good ones. Better enjoy the moments before they pass you up.

Powerful column by Paul MacDonald, lead counsel for athletes in Johnson v. NCAA. Paul explains why even if Congress passes, and President signs, legislation to reform college sports, it will be immediately challenged in court—so more lawsuits, not less. usatoday.com/story/sports/c….

House GOP actually passed a bill that would reopen DHS, but ok 🧐 Would be more accurate for NYT to say House GOP rejected Senate bill that left ICE & CBP unfunded, passed rival bill Why does the distinction matter? Ending the shutdown on this “deal” would come at the expense of ICE & CBP civilian support staff, who are still not being paid - despite the frontline law enforcement officers being funded thru 2029 under OBBB. Staff would have been permanently locked out under the Senate deal, unless/until R’s can pass a second reconciliation bill. Which looks like a loooong uphill battle.

Anybody who’s followed @Vol_Hoops for the past 50 years gets it, the scope of what Rick Barnes has done with a program that has produced great players and great moments, but never this kind of elite consistency. Yes, there’s still the white whale, the Final Four. But there was a time when the mere idea of three straight Elite 8’s on Rocky Top would have been like saying the university was going to order the band to never play the song again.
