LA City Council just told LAPD they can't pull anyone over anymore for expired tags, dead tail lights, cracked windshields, busted mirrors, illegal tint, loud exhaust, or missing plates. Why? Because out of 72,000 stops in three years, 86% were Black or Latino drivers. So if your car is busted, you're now invisible to the LAPD. Congratulations. This rule is intended to reduce discriminatory policing and build community trust.

@rationalposts @CanBorder I didn't pipe up because I was accustomed to them always scanning everyone, but this time, I think we have to be aware that it's a low trust society now if they are involved and that we have the option of asking them why they forgot to scan so and so.

Odd. An Indian ticket checker on the GO train just checked my card to make sure I paid. He then passed three Indians two seats over from me and just waved at them and didn’t check their tickets. I wonder if the @CanBorder does the same at airports. I’m not making this up.

I totally agree. I'll be 77 in July and although I'm still active and healthy it is impossible not to notice the energy and cognitive decline in the seventies. I don't know how Trump does it. What an amazing man.

Changes to X incentives you should be aware of: If you do any of the below things, you will get zero credit as X now checks everything you post against a database of known content: - Embedding videos - Quoting anything - Reusing any video already on X - Reusing any image already on X (includes old memes) - Copying any old text, joke, idea - it will likley get a note removing any incentives - Posting literally anything that's already on X The only thing that counts now is: - Typing your own thoughts - Taking your own pictures - Taking your own videos - Making an AI video - however this is questionable - Adding 'value' to an image or video - modifying a meme or video to make it unique and putting your own spin on it is apparently allowed, but in reality it's questionable if this actually counts the way it's supposed to X has determined if you were not here live, the first time it was posted, it's trash and no one should ever see it again. So not only is the timescale of posts limited to a maximum of 48 hours for the algo to recommend it, it now has to qualify with one of the above items, making it 10x harder to be incentivised. What this will cause: - Zero credit to video posters on X who used to get embeds linking back to them - people will just rip the video now and re-upload - however this does not work if it was already on X so its rather pointless. Before, the person embedding the video would get the incentives and the OP would get a link back to him for credit - Reduced traffic - instead of trying to find something interesting to share, people will look to other platforms since all content found on X is forbidden to share again within the platform - Reduced quote posting - if people have no incentive to quote a post, why would the do it unless they are trying to help a friend or be nice - before you and the OP got credit, not any more - Lower X usage - people will stop sharing things altogether and numbers will go down since this is a driving force of the platform Random image below to peak interest - you know your mom had this growing up:
