Announcement: I am now available as a writing coach. Whether you’re a high school student looking to build a writing foundation or a college student hoping to master sports journalism, I will cater the lessons to your needs.
How it works
Each month, I will only work with five students. Those five students will have the option to continue working with me beyond one month — they will be locked into their spots until they no longer want them. That way, I will develop real relationships with the students and the process will be more rewarding for both sides.
Anyone else who signs up will be added to a wait list. Whenever a student stops working with me, the spot will be filled by whoever has the top spot on the wait list.
Why do I want to coach writing?
Not always the most interested writer growing up, I know how a spark can change someone’s life. I only started writing about the Celtics when a college class forced me to create a blog. It didn’t take me long to fall in love with putting words together. Writing, once a chore, turned into my dream.
I never thought about coaching writing until recently, when a friend asked me if I would want to tutor a high school student he knows. The tutoring sessions inspired me. I could see the student, who didn’t love writing beforehand, become more passionate about it every time we met. Words captured him like they seized me long ago. Helping him stoke that fire fulfilled me.
It gave me the same feeling I once got from coaching basketball. There’s nothing better than helping someone improve a skill set, grow more confident and develop a powerful new tool.
