Another week of disappointing platitudes. Nothing new, nothing creative, nothing inspiring, nor hopeful of any Real change. Carers orgs and their slogan of "putting carers on the map" has felt patronising. Skunnered is how I feel #RealCarersWeek

As we come to the end of yet another Carers Week, the lack of any real action from leaders and politicians, or even a mention of carers in some of the party manifestos this year has been particularly galling. Ah well...Happy frigging Carers Week to us all 😐

We had some blue lights lying around (we did use them during #AutismAwarenessWeek until people pointed out the problem with this). So we've lit up our council offices! I think you'll agree, after our week of efforts you carers must feel just so special & valued. #CarersWeek2024

So here we are, day 2 of #RealCarersWeek. Up at 2am to get mum up and back in bed after she had a fall, managed to grab another hour or so of sleep, absolutely knackered and still not feeling 100%, but the caring duties go on. This is the real life of Unpaid Carers.
