NAVA applauds the executive order on Artificial Intelligence issued by President Biden today as a strong first step in the right direction. The consumer protections; protections for copyright and intellectual property; and standards and best practices for detection and labeling AI-generated content will have a positive impact on actors and creatives everywhere. NAVA stands for the fair and ethical use of Artificial Intelligence, and we look forward to the impact this executive order will have. bit.ly/46RLi4q

@ej11lizzie Are you aware that you can seek out non-union corporate VO work and convert it to union work?

@ej11lizzie Liz, I am so sorry. Two things 1. A ton of non-union work can be converted to union through paymasters. Especially voiceover work that is non-broadcast. That could help you qualify. 2. NAVAvoices.org is in the process of getting health insurance for voice actors in 2023.

@RobbMoreiraVO @YonShadyGlenn ouch! Singing coaches cost $25-40 where I live XD. Even some of the best coaches only charge $100, which would be $70usd.

@JohnWangVO @RobbMoreiraVO @YonShadyGlenn You think singing coaches are cheaper than $80-150/hr? My singing teacher in NYC costs $250/hr. Most singing teachers, even in small towns cost $80-150/hr. If money is a problem, take one of the hundreds of free classes and workshops offered through VO community groups on fb.

@RobbMoreiraVO @YonShadyGlenn Coaching for me is long term weekly sessions. Reputable coaches cost $80-150/h. This is not something everyone can afford. The fundamentals of VO is the same as theatre and singing. As a low cost alternative to learning to strengthen the voice and acting, those are very viable.

@JohnWangVO You really do have to choose your words carefully because you represent CCC. Most singing teachers charge over $100/hr. That isn’t a cost savings. Most of what I do in commercial voiceover is flattening out my stage/singing technique to sound more natural and conversational.

@CarinGilfry I would imagine you have a lot of mastery when it comes to manipulating your voice. Singing is not the only thing but breath control, pitch control, air support, diaphragmatic breathing, those all matter in VO as well. I probably should have phrased my tweet better though.
