Happy to see a new feature in Microsoft Teams today. This new feature is "Closed Captions" and can be turned on/off during a "Live" Meeting. The accuracy is impressive so far😀#UDL @MicrosoftEDU @GMITOfficial 1. Select 3 dots in live meeting 2. Toggle CC on/off 3. CC appears

'Nothing about us, without us’. The absence of disabled voices at the Oireachtas Covid Committee hearing on the impact of the pandemic on the lives of disabled people is wrong. Systemic change is impossible if we are not provided space and opportunity to speak for ourselves.

Powerful post by Taharee Jackson. So many important reasons why we should not engage in videoclassism... Even though we should not need to know "why" a student wants their camera off at any point in time!

sneak peek at rough draft versions of very simple guide to teaching online, aimed at folk with little prior experience, some anxieties, and, perhaps, a smidgen of technophobia. Don't worry, we're on the case!

A static recording of a synchronous Zoom conversation doesn’t really count as “asynchronous” learning, at least for the purposes of access. Nor does a mere recording of a face-to-face classroom session.

After #GAAD I have a request for all of you. @zoom_us is quite accessible in a lot of ways but really falls down on not having a specific channel which hosts can assign for #SignLanguage interpreter. Please join me in requesting this feat. here #A11y #UDL zoom.us/feed

When creating a visual, always fear creating 'mapshock' among your viewers. This one from the US military is the epitome of overcrowding. Icons, too, can cause such visual & cognitive mayhem. My fourth design guide: restraint.
