*** UPDATED AT 1.15PM SUNDAY 26 JANUARY *** The extremely high winds from Storm Eowyn have caused widespread impacts across the Stirling Council area, damaging infrastructure and closing a number of roads, mainly due to fallen trees, as well as resulting in multiple power outages. Safety inspections have been carried out across council buildings and facilities over the weekend to assess any damage from the storm. Due to extensive damage at Borestone, Bridge of Allan and Fintry Primary Schools, we can confirm that these schools and nurseries will be impacted, while the buildings are made safe. All other schools and nurseries will re-open as normal on Monday 27 January. Affected families are being contacted directly by their schools to confirm further arrangements, including any provision of school lunches. We can also confirm that the Alpha Centre in Fallin will be closed next week (W/C 27 Jan) due to the impact of the storm. All those who made bookings for the facility will be contacted. Our roads and land services teams have been clearing roads, prioritising those routes that are critical to the network. Most affected roads have now been cleared of debris and are now open, however, a small number of closures remain in place. Head to our website for all the latest info on any service disruption including road closures: stirling.gov.uk/service-updates Please take when travelling as there may still be debris on some roads and continue to follow Police Scotland’s travel advice: scotland.police.uk/what-s-happeni… There are still power outages in the area and are working with the power companies. In the event of any power outages that affect you or somebody you know, please call 105 for support from SSEN or SPEN. Updates on other council services: • All scheduled bin collections have now resumed, but please be aware there is likely to be disruption to collections. We will provide an update on Friday's suspended bin collections on Monday. • All council buildings (including Customer First), community centres, libraries and venues – aside from the schools and community centres listed above – are scheduled to reopen on Monday 27 Jan. • Our public transport provision has mostly returned to normal. Please plan ahead and check with operators about the availability of local bus services. • Care at home house visits will continue to be prioritised for the most vulnerable and our normal service has resumed. While all weather warnings for the Stirling Council area have now expired, our Gritting Teams will be treating priority routes ahead of Monday (27 Jan) due to the freezing conditions that are forecast. All the latest information can be found on service updates page: stirling.gov.uk/service-updates Other key links and resources: • Met Office latest weather advice: metoffice.gov.uk • Traffic Scotland traffic and travel updates: traffic.gov.scot • Scotrail updates on train services and disruptions: scotrail.co.uk • Useful advice on how to prepare for and recover from storms, can be found on Ready Scotland: ready.scot

We understand the plans of many people have been affected by the cancellation of Hogmanay events across Scotland. However, with weather warnings currently in place, we strongly advise that people do not travel from outwith the area into Stirling this evening. The Hogmanay event at Stirling Rugby Club is strictly ticketed & there will be no access to @TheWallaceMon for the fireworks display. As in previous years, for reasons of safety, there will be no designated viewing area at the Abbey Craig & the Monument grounds, which will be closed to visitors. Thank you for your understanding.
