❌ Training hours: NOPE ❌ Pediatric Emergency Care Coordinators (PECCs): NOPE ❌ Protocols: NOPE ✅ Young age: YEP A multi-agency study found that these #EMS factors did not reduce safety events and infants face highest risk. 🚨New strategies are urgently needed. 🚨 How do we prepare #EMS for adverse events in pediatric Out-of-Hospital Cardiac Arrest (#OHCA)? 📋 Researchers reviewed 659 pediatric OHCA cases, assessing safety events and agency factors like Pediatric Emergency Care Coordinators (#PECCs), training hours & protocol tools. 📊 Result: While no link was found between these factors, but they did find younger ages to be a risk. Do we need extra training for the very young? 🧐 Read more about this study here 👇🏽 tandfonline.com/doi/10.1080/10… @MattHansenMD @PECARNteam #prehospital @ProdigyEMS @JEMSConnect @EMSWorldOFCL

📚 A recent study tested a virtual, #EMS-specific neonatal resuscitation course for out-of-hospital births—rare but high-risk events. Neonatal Resuscitation Program #NRP knowledge was tested 👇🏽 🧠 Pretest: 5.3/10 ⚡ Post-test: 8.6/10 📅 3-month follow-up: 6.9/10. 🚑98% of EMS clinicians said it filled a critical training gap @MattHansenMD @PECARNteam #prehospital @ProdigyEMS @JEMSConnect @EMSWorldOFCL Learn more about the EMS-specific curriculum here: #abstract" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">tandfonline.com/doi/10.1080/10…

The Neonatal Resuscitation Program (#NRP) is the U.S. standard—but it's built for the hospital 🏥 #EMS needs context-specific training 👉🏼 this study piloted a virtual NRP-based course tailored just for EMS 🚑 ➡️ The curriculum is effective, scalable, and well-received, making it a promising candidate for standardized EMS neonatal training nationwide @MattHansenMD @PECARNteam #prehospital @ProdigyEMS @JEMSConnect @EMSWorldOFCL 📖 Read more about it here: tandfonline.com/doi/10.1080/10…

👶 Critically ill children can’t consent. Exemption from Informed Consent #EFIC allows vital #EMS trials to move forward—but only with community input. 🖥️ Pedi-PART's digital-first approach showed we can gather meaningful, ethical consent via modern tools. @henrywangmd @MattHansenMD @PECARNTeam @ProdigyEMS @JEMSConnect @EMSWorldOFCL Read more about community engagement for this #pediatric #prehospital #airway resuscitation trial here 👇🏽 sciencedirect.com/science/articl…

#EFIC requires community input—but #EMS trials often struggle to reach enough people. Pedi-PART proved it’s possible: ✅ Wide reach ✅ Diverse voices ✅ Rapid + supportive responses Let’s rethink how we engage the public in emergency research 🧐 @henrywangmd @MattHansenMD @PECARNTeam @ProdigyEMS @JEMSConnect @EMSWorldOFCL Read more about Exception from Informed Consent #EFIC and community engagement here 👇🏽 sciencedirect.com/science/articl…

🚑 How do you get public input when studying critically ill kids in the field? With #EFIC, Pedi-PART went digital: Ads reached 3.4M people📝 Surveys showed 91% community support💡 Efficient, inclusive, and scalable @henrywangmd @MattHansenMD @PECARNTeam @ProdigyEMS @JEMSConnect @EMSWorldOFCL Read more about community engagement for this #pediatric #prehospital #airway resuscitation trial here 👇🏽 sciencedirect.com/science/articl…

🚨In life or death #pediatric emergencies, there's no time for consent. ➡️ That’s where #EFIC—Exception from Informed Consent—comes in. 📱The Pedi-PART trial used EFIC + digital tools to ethically launch a #prehospital airway study with broad community support. @henrywangmd @MattHansenMD @PECARNTeam @ProdigyEMS @JEMSConnect @EMSWorldOFCL #PediatricEMS #EMS Read more about this study here 👇🏽 sciencedirect.com/science/articl…

Airway management in kids is rare - but when it’s needed, it’s complex. This national dataset provides a clear takeaway: 👉🏼 Low frequency, low first-pass success 🚨We need better data, training, and preparation for these critical calls. ➡️ shorturl.at/7rHMp
