This new age of CFB will possibly have 35-40 coaching openings this hiring cycle. I hope (hope is not a strategy BTW) that worthy black assistant/head coaches get a chance to get some of those jobs. Going to be interesting. #CFB #TransferPortal #NIL

Love. Liberty. Legacy. #FreedomRiders - #OTD in 1961, the first Freedom Riders left Washington, D.C. and were scheduled to arrive in New Orleans on May 17.
Freedom Riders were civil rights activists who made bus trips throughout the South protesting segregation by using “whites-only” restrooms and lunch counters at bus stations. The courageous riders endured brutal police officers, enraged bystanders, and violent mobs.
The purpose of the “Freedom Rides” was to challenge the non-enforcement of the United States Supreme Court decisions Morgan v. Virginia (1946) and Boynton v. Virginia (1960), which ruled that segregated public buses were unconstitutional. The Southern states had ignored the rulings and the federal government had done nothing to enforce them.
The Freedom Riders’ heroic nonviolent direct action led the U.S. Interstate Commerce Commission to ban segregation in interstate bus travel.

On August 6, 1965, the Voting Rights Act was signed into law as my father looked on. It was not a gift. It was the result of sacrifice, courage, organizing, and nonviolent struggle.
I believe my father would be deeply troubled by the ongoing efforts to weaken voting rights and make fair representation harder to secure. But I also believe he would not want us to surrender to frustration or despair.
We have work to do. We must organize with discipline, demand new voting rights protections, and continue pressing toward a democracy where every voice is valued and every vote is protected.
