The TransCat Expedition 2025: Oceans without Borders! What an incredible year setting up for this journey and starting this Expedition. So grateful to be able to build this Project out and get to the start line & start this massive undertaking.. I’m so happy, thankful and grateful to so many that have helped me get to the start line.. and so looking forward to the next part of the Expedition for 2026, to have the Cat almost ready and such a strong foundation to build off to make improvements, alterations and necessary upgrades in many areas in order to make this the most intense and exciting Expedition I have ever undertaken in my life.. During the first 36 hours I established 3 key safety issues with the cat that needed to be remedied, two critical and key Coms issues, 3 x gear issues and one logistics issue that came up, which hadn’t happened in any of the testing phase… None of these are in the video really, as during these issues, I am too busy problem solving, addressing them and figuring out ways to stay alive, in order to make the right decision under extreme pressure & highly volatile conditions and focused on making the right call at the right time and getting back in one piece.. and not focused at all on filming. Every expedition decision I have made in the past, now and till this present moment have been spot on, all at exactly the right time and no matter how much planning, testing, safety measures and backups are in place, things always fail and go wrong in the ocean, that’s a given and a certainty… The open ocean in a tiny craft with no shelter, is like living life on steroids in hyperdrive, in Jurassic park! And being able to make the right decisions at the right time is something I am incredibly proud of as a person, as a human, a Captain and expedition lead.. That's the difference between being a reckless, ego driven and being a risk technician.. This Expedition is a massive undertaking with many more key risks and safety factors to consider and get right than people understand… far more than surfing giant waves, stand up paddling across the Atlantic or Winging the Pacific, like I have done before… But after my 4 days 200NM journey & my recent additional 4 day mission, I did last week up coast, I now know it’s possible and with the knowledge and experience I now have I can build it out slower and with all the right knowledge & data needed to get it right for next season and relaunch in 2026, ready for the ultimate sailing adventure and expedition of a lifetime. As we break everything down this week and pack her up for changes, alterations, upgrades and storage for the off season I’m now so Stoked and ready for the next chapter and next season and what’s to come.. knowing the call I made was spot on and essential for future success of this Expedition in 2026. The feedback was essential to move forward into next season with all the tools needed to get this done right and have the outcome and impact intended next year for inspiration, conservation, education and planet! Thanks for all involved that helped.. the journey never stops, it’s just beginning. Once we start, we always finish! Go the distance always… it’s not a catch phrase, it’s a life philosophy…because I’m always…ALL IN! 4 Day Testing & Training Mission! Solution finding & testing already, it doesn’t stop! Training up the Californian West coast, for the TransCat Expedition 2025 Oceans without Borders. Testing new water bladders, sleeping systems, Bivy’s etc. This is all part of the process and part of the journey. It never ends, obstacles become the roadmap and compass to keep you moving forward to show you the path ahead.. Keep moving forward, one day at a time. It’s not your timeline sometimes, it’s life’s timeline for you, which you have to follow, no control, just letting go, trusting and knowing it’s all part of the journey. Find the gifts in the obstacles, they are there, with the right attitude, mindset and perspective, always… @ChrisBertish #TransCatExpedition2025 #OceansWithoutBorders #WildImpact #ChrisBertishFoundation #Sustainability #30By30 #CarbonNeutral #OceanConservation #Sailing #ExtremeSports #Foiling #Expedition #Resilience #Leadership #WorldRecord #GiveBack #ClimateAction #InspireChange

198 Nautical Miles Into the Pacific—Solo & Unsupported ...... What started as a bold attempt to sail to Hawaii turned into something even more profound. In a production beach cat, I ventured 198 nautical miles solo and unsupported from San Diego into the Pacific. That’s a world first! This wasn’t part of the original plan, but life—and the ocean—often demand adaptability. Due to some safety concerns, I made the decision to turn back, a call guided by both instinct and experience. But even with the return, this journey marked a milestone: pushing the boundaries of what many thought was not possible in a vessel like this. I’m proud of what’s been achieved so far. Every mile was a lesson. Every wave, a teacher. And while the full crossing will now resume next season—with strengthened systems and renewed focus—I’ve already broken new ground. This is all part of the process. I’m staying committed, learning, and continuing to evolve. Because progress doesn’t always look like reaching the original destination—it looks like showing up, pushing forward, and daring to do what’s never been done. Believe in yourself. Have the courage to try. That’s where the real journey begins. @ChrisBertish #TransCatExpedition2025 #OceansWithoutBorders #WildImpact #ChrisBertishFoundation #Sustainability #30By30 #CarbonNeutral #OceanConservation #Sailing #ExtremeSports #Foiling #Expedition #Resilience #Leadership #WorldRecord #GiveBack #ClimateAction #InspireChange

Accomplished a critical overnight test sail. I am checking and testing gear to remain warm & as dry as possible. This is absolutely key as I will have no break from the elements for the duration of the crossing. Overnight, I was also checking that all the cat’s night systems work and are functional. Then, you try to get a couple of hours of sleep while still remaining functional and moving forward. All of my gear is good: dry suit testing, cold gear testing & sleep options testing. Tweaks and upgrades to be added but everything is looking pretty good so far. I feel we are getting closer to being ready. Slowly, slowly we will catch that monkey - The Golden Monkey- From my book ALL IN! Once a pirate, always a pirate. Knocked a lens out of my glasses - my fault, but loving my new Mako Eyewear! @makosunglasses To learn more, support, and follow my journey for the TransCat Expedition 2025: Oceans Without Borders, go to: transcatexpedition.com @ChrisBertish #MakoEyewear #TransCatExpedition2025 #OceansWithoutBorders #WildImpact #ChrisBertishFoundation #Sustainability #30By30 #CarbonNeutral #OceanConservation #Sailing #ExtremeSports #Foiling #Expedition #Resilience #Leadership #WorldRecord #GiveBack #ClimateAction #Inspire
