Still think about this Harrison Smith story from @alec_lewis.
During Cam Bynum’s rookie season, Bynum was to cover the DB’s dinner bills.
But the tab never came. Why?
Because Harrison Smith quietly handled it without seeking recognition. That’s the kind of leader he is.

If this is indeed Harrison Smith's last game as a Viking - it's been my true honor to cover his entire NFL career. A future Hall of Famer as a player and a person. Here Harry tells me about his love & respect for his teammates and for Brian Flores. #hofhitman

While playing a Quad 4 road game seems out of character for @nate_oats, the @AlabamaMBB head coach known for his analytically-driven, non-conference scheduling actually went old school for tonight’s game.
Borrowing a tradition from late North Carolina coach Dean Smith, Oats agreed to take the No. 6-ranked Crimson Tide to North Dakota so graduate senior Grant Nelson could return to his home state and play in front of family and friends.
During his legendary career, Smith tried to schedule one road game in the home state of players who signed with the Tar Heels. This commitment included North Carolina traveling to Coleman Coliseum in November 1989 for former Tuscaloosa Academy star Pete Chilcutt.
Alabama (8-2) tips off against the North Dakota Fighting Hawks (4-8) at 8 p.m. tonight in a frigid Grand Forks, N.D., in the first meeting between the programs. The game will be televised on the CBS Sports Network.
Nelson is no stranger to the Fighting Hawks having played three years for rival North Dakota State before transferring to Alabama last season. He finished 5-1 in their Summit League battles, averaging 19.7 points and 6.2 rebounds. In his last game against them, he scored a career-high 36 points.
Tonight’s setting is only 90 miles from Nelson’s hometown of Devils Lake, N.D., and 500 of the 3,140 expected crowd inside the Betty Engelstad Sioux Center will be there to watch the local player make his return to the Peace Garden State.
Part of the series agreement between the schools included Alabama receiving pre-sale access to 500 tickets which the school allowed Nelson to give to family and friends.
