@Sherylynn_R2 @Variety @itsbrandl I agree. Val was an exceptional human & actor. I appreciate where the director and his daughter are coming from, but A.l. is a different worry to the world in all facets. God help us all. RIP Val… you and your body of work will never be forgotten. 🌹🕊️💫

FIRST LOOK: Val Kilmer has been resurrected via AI to star in the new movie "As Deep as the Grave." Kilmer was cast in the movie in 2020, five years before his death. But he was too sick amid his throat cancer battle to ever make it to set. Now an AI version of the actor is appearing in the film, with the full blessing of his daughter, Mercedes: "He always looked at emerging technologies with optimism as a tool to expand the possibilities of storytelling. This spirit is something that we are all honoring within this specific film, of which he was an integral part.” “He was the actor I wanted to play this role,” says writer-director Coerte Voorhees. “It was very much designed around him. It drew on his Native American heritage and his ties to and love of the Southwest... His family kept saying how important they thought the movie was and that Val really wanted to be a part of this. He really thought it was important story that he wanted his name on. It was that support that gave me the confidence to say, okay let’s do this. Despite the fact some people might call it controversial, this is what Val wanted.” wp.me/pc8uak-1lH1PI

The Song Freddie Couldn’t Bring Himself to Sing Live… In 1988, Queen released Barcelona, a collaboration between Freddie Mercury and Spanish soprano Montserrat Caballé. It wasn’t a Queen album. There were no guitars battling for space. No drums pushing the tempo. It was something far more personal. For Freddie, it was a dream fulfilled. He had admired Caballé for years and finally met her in early 1987. The respect between them was immediate and mutual. When they recorded together, Freddie pushed his voice harder than he ever had — not for spectacle, but for precision. He was stepping into a world that demanded discipline over drama. The title track, “Barcelona,” was recorded in May 1987. By the time it was released in October 1988, Freddie’s health had deteriorated significantly. Publicly, nothing was said. Privately, the strain was obvious. Despite the song’s success — and later its adoption as the anthem of the 1992 Olympic Games — Freddie never performed it live on stage with Caballé. The reason wasn’t fear. It was honesty. According to people close to Freddie, he knew the song demanded a level of vocal endurance and physical strength he could no longer guarantee night after night. Rather than risk reducing it, he chose to protect it. It was one of the rare times Freddie Mercury set ego aside for integrity. After his death in November 1991, Montserrat Caballé performed “Barcelona” alone, calling Freddie “a true artist who knew when to step back.” In a career defined by bravado, that restraint speaks volumes. Sometimes the strongest performance is knowing when not to take the stage. #FreddieMercury #MontserratCaballé

The Devil Wears Prada (🌟🌟🌟🌟) is up there as one of my sister’s favorite films & it’s her birthday today. She asked me to revisit this movie so…here we are, folks. It sort of comes at a good time considering the long-awaited sequel to this film is set to release on May 1st. There are a lot of reasons to revisit this- a lot of reasons why this is so infinitely rewatchable. But none greater than Meryl Streep. In the 150ish years of cinema, Streep is one of the art form’s most important figures. This is her vehicle to shine & a performance that will last forever. 20 years ago in 2006, Meryl Streep was 57 years old. Streep, by all accounts, was probably thought to have been in the later stages of her career. But what we didn’t know then that we know now is that this film would be the start of a historic run from an actress who had already won two Academy Awards. Following this film, Streep went on to earn seven more Oscar nominations, including three in a row for this film, Doubt in 2008 & Julie & Julia in 2009 before ultimately winning her record-setting 3rd Oscar in 2011 for The Irony Lady. I say all of that to say this: The Devil Wears Prada finds Streep smack dab in another chapter of her prime. Whenever I watch this film, I wonder what compelled Streep to take on Miranda Priestly. She’s probably sent countless scripts for countless films on a yearly basis, but this caught her attention. I think the answer has to include the fact that she gets to be the boss- Priestly is in full control of everyone around her & her entire surroundings- or so we think. I think the depth of Priestly’s character, however, and the reason to embrace this role beyond just “being boss” is that Priestly’s perfect image slowly cracks throughout the film. It’s one thing to see how Priestly acts when things are going her way & when she’s has full control of the levers around her. But as the film unfolds & as her magazine & personal life run into roadblocks, Priestly reveals that she’s just like the rest of us- the stress & pressure of life can still get to her. But Priestly also represents a larger issue in society- which is that the powers-at-be are unable to withhold passing their stress, their unhappiness, and their hell down stream to those who work for them. It takes a special person to break that cycle. Enter Andrea Sachs (Anne Hathaway), a character who represents a change of the guard, a breaking of the unrelenting cycle of passing stress down to those around you. Whereas Emily (Emily Blunt) represents a new age version of Miranda- another highly successful, highly motivated individual who can’t help but treat those around her poorly- it’s Andi’s job to buck the trend. Which is the entire essence of this film- proving to Miranda that things don’t have to be done the way she’s always done them. You can make great art without treating those around you like hell. Meryl Streep is now 76. I’m unsure how many more performances she has like this in her bag. Maybe it doesn’t matter. If Streep never acted again the rest of her life, she’s left all of us with more than enough to enjoy to last a lifetime. My hopes for the upcoming sequel? Admittedly low. I don’t know if you can recapture the authenticity & honesty that this film had- not to mention the quality. Regardless of where the sequel goes- regardless of where Streep’s career goes- I will follow. Happy birthday Sister Tweets!

Can you see it? A poacher's snare, cinched tight around a tiny calf's trunk. The trap was probably laid to catch a small antelope for bushmeat, but snares don't discriminate. They ensnare anything that steps into them. This calf was successfully treated last year by our SWT/KWS Vet initiative, and is a reminder why de-snaring patrols matter. That's why our 29 anti-poaching teams, operated with KWS, patrol relentlessly. In a single month, they confiscated 1,544 snares. Every wire removed is a life saved – elephant, giraffe, antelope, lion. Your support powers these patrols – thank you.

𝐅𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐰𝐞𝐥𝐥 𝐭𝐨 𝐂𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐠 – 𝐀 𝐆𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐥𝐞 𝐆𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐒𝐮𝐩𝐞𝐫 𝐓𝐮𝐬𝐤𝐞𝐫 𝐊𝐧𝐨𝐰𝐧 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 🐘 Early this morning, Amboseli National Park, Kenya - and indeed the world - lost a true icon. Craig, the legendary super tusker famed for its immense, ground-sweeping tusks and calm, dignified presence, passed on at the age of 54. Born in January 1972 to the great matriarch Cassandra of the CB family, Craig lived a life that few elephants ever do. Craig was one of the last remaining super tuskers in Africa - a rare class of bull elephants whose two tusks weigh over 45 kilograms (100 lbs) each. Fewer than a handful remain today, making him a living monument to Africa’s natural heritage. He fathered a number of calves, ensuring that his powerful bloodline and gentle character live on across generations. Beyond its extraordinary tusks, Craig was deeply loved for its remarkably calm nature. He appeared to understand its place in the world - often pausing patiently as visitors photographed and filmed him. Widely documented and admired globally, he became a true ambassador of Amboseli and a symbol of what successful conservation looks like. In 2021, Craig was proudly adopted by East African Breweries Limited (EABL) through the Tusker brand, reflecting his worldwide appeal. His long life and survival to such maturity were made possible through decades of dedicated protection by Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS), working in close collaboration with conservation partners and the local community. Continuous monitoring, anti-poaching efforts, habitat protection, and community stewardship ensured that Craig lived freely and safely - demonstrating what collective commitment to wildlife conservation can achieve. Drop a memory of Craig down below and let's celebrate its legacy. #TunzaMaliYako
