Chicago needs a real growth plan centered on retaining middle-income families. With new South Side tech hubs coming online, the agglomeration upside is enormous, but the workforce is sprawled across the region, draining the core. Sustainable growth means family-friendly density so works aren’t forced to the exurbs (or Dallas) when they start a family. I haven’t seen a single plan that does this at scale.

A new story on our website shows how public support for both through the city of Chicago’s ETOD Policy Plan is starting to show results, with local and emerging developers making their mark in historically under-invested neighborhoods all throughout Chicago.

From the grand opening of a grocery cooperative in Rogers Park this July to a trade school and art hub project in Lawndale still on the drawing board, equitable transit-oriented development (ETOD) is inspiring some $350 million in new development projects across Chicago.
