Principle……..however……buts……balancing acts…….Wendy jones KC, justice shouldn’t work on home made principles, howevers, buts and balancing acts. Judges should consider perhaps if they carry on like this they will alienate themselves from the public permanently.
In Nottingham the judge allowed flawed expert ‘crystal ball psychiatry’ evidence which should have been thrown out. And now as a victims father, Grace’s father, I have to live with this. And by the way, the court of appeal did not question the psychiatric crystal ball evidence that I pointed out was highly questionable. All the CoA judges did was review the ‘? Unduly lenient sentence’.

As the father of three daughters I can imagine how he feels. Darren we need politicians to feel the visceral pain of others. We need to bring change for all loving families across the country. Our families safety must be given the highest priority in government.
It must define actions, legal judgements, government policy.
As Grace’s father, can you see how hard it is to see ones daughter as a victim of an avoidable attack. How heartbreaking it is to live with. Grace was and is the love of my life. I’m a father like you, our children, our families, our friends must all be safe from avoidable harm of any type.

Mental health related homicide must be brought to an end in our country. Management of those who harm others must be flawless and consultant psychiatrists who manage this cohort of patients must review every patient on their books. Reassess risk and manage with resolve. If not they must know they will be held to account. The likes Nottingham attacks must never happen again.

Channel 4 News can reveal the Nottingham case is not isolated. In the year before the attacks, there were 23 similar incidents across the UK involving severely mentally ill people attacking strangers, and a similar number since.

Laura judges and their decisions, directions and evidence they hear must have a tier of scrutiny. I totally sympathise with victims of this case and the shocking comments by the judge.
In the Nottingham Attacks, a case I know more about the judge took the guidance of one psychiatrist and didn’t question it, when it was so obviously questionable.
Judges, wake up, apply common sense.

Alex, there are some dreadful stories in the press. I don’t know the exact detail so won’t comment, it would be insensitive and ignorant to do so. I’m on the side of victims who have to live a life of hell.
What I do know a lot about is the Nottingham attacks. If judges listen to flawed expert witnesses like ‘crystal ball psychiatry’ in our case, injustices will continue. Judges need to through out useless witnesses and nonsense defence arguments for a start. The people of the country are looking for law & order at the grass routes not hypothetical sentences made on hypothetical legal arguments. Let’s use common sense. Problem is common sense is not common.

Dear Sir, this case should not go the route of ‘unduly lenient’ because the judges will respond with the same outputs. This should be a ‘full case review’.
As you know the Nottingham attacks went down the ‘unduly lenient’ route and because it didn’t examine the actual evidence that was made original case. It failed. People at the grass routes want to see fair justice not legal technicalities and a failed case.
Back to basics law; if our country is to have confidence in judges and the legal system.
