During Black History Month, we recognize both the resilience of Black communities and the ongoing need to advance health equity. COPD remains underdiagnosed among the Black community, with research showing higher likelihood of undetected disease even when lung function testing shows impairment. Environmental exposure, asthma–COPD overlap, and access barriers all contribute and underscore the need for earlier screening and community-centered education. Through our Trusted Messengers Program and our partnership with @COPDaction , we are expanding access to asthma, allergy, and COPD screenings, culturally responsive education, and online resources meeting people where they are while continuing to help amplify patient voices in advocacy and policy change.
