It just happened to be the widespread choice and dominant system because of its network, standardisation and US Dollar dominance. They want a neutral settlement system that can handle messaging, liquidity, settle trades in local currencies and stays neutral. This is exactly the system Ripple and XRPL are. The partnerships, pilots, testings, licenses and meeting with the BRICS nations and President Trump were no coincidence. JP Morgan and Ripple executed the first-ever transaction connecting XRP Ledger with interbank settlement. Turn this into cross-border, the SWIFT is completely by-passed. Ripple will replace the SWIFT. The writing is on the wall.
