I spent the weekend in Melaka, Malaysia walking around with my phone, photographing what caught my eye. I'm currently studying screenwriting with @CuriousRefuge and it's teaching me to think differently about location; not just as a backdrop, but as a key character in the story. The architecture in Melaka expresses centuries of cultural history: Chinese temple doors next to Dutch colonial remnants next to Indian flower shops next to Malay shophouses. Every street is a layering of different traditions and different colour palettes. So much of storytelling lives in these details: the colour of a doorway, the texture of a wall, the way different cultures express themselves through the spaces they build. It's easy to lose sight of this when you're deep in tools and prompts and workflows. Just walking around and looking was exactly what I needed. What feeds your visual imagination when you step away from the tools?

Tested @midjourney v8 against @FlowbyGoogle Nano Banana Pro, including style reference workflows. Midjourney almost feels like it took a step back in some areas compared to v7. Nano Banana Pro seems the stronger generator overall, primarily due to how well it handles references and lets you use up to 14 images. Verdict: Midjourney v8 isn’t final-frame ready, but it’s great for moodboards and exploring style. So the best workflow right now is Midjourney for style, and then pairing it with Nano Banana for execution. 1a. Prompt: a cinematic still of a man in a sci-fi film wearing a blue mech suit, in a futuristic market with blue gems, --ar 16:9 --raw

3. Realism Prompt: A man sitting in a coffee shop with natural lighting V8 struggles with logical scene construction and fine details (like object placement). It’s a bit of a bummer.

We love @midjourney for its cinematic aesthetic, but the latest v8 alpha rollout feels a bit underwhelming so far. We tested v7 against v8, including style reference workflows, and the overall image quality isn’t a huge leap. In some cases, it even feels like a step back. Want to see for yourself? Our latest blog post covers how you could generate AI images using Midjourney 8. Check it out here: lnkd.in/gR3G7e4y 1. Nano Banana Pro images (left) style references (right), thanks to @CuriousRefuge for prompt guide: "Use uploaded image a style reference for color grading, camera qualities, but not composition or set design." Been working months with very dry Nano images! Style ref. #aiarts 1/2

Playing with pastel green and warm tones in this cinematic set. What story do you see unfolding through these stills? Master Prompt here (and individual prompts in ALT): "Cinematic still of a [SUBJECT] [DESTINATION], soft ethereal glow, dreamy haze diffusion, shallow depth of field, wind-blown hair, delicate flowing dress, natural environment, soft bloom highlights, lens flare, volumetric sunlight rays, shot on 35mm film, Kodak Portra 400 color grading, pastel greens and warm tones, low contrast, subtle film grain, nostalgic, poetic, serene" If you try it out, share it with us! We'd love to see what you come up with 👀
