Finalizing a few nuggets for tomorrow's clinic sessions...
College Football's 2025 pass catch data is a treasure trove if you’re willing to study it.
A couple gems from 65,000+ receptions:
• Outside WRs caught the HITCH 23.9%, more than anything else. Free access throws still drive offenses. If you can’t take 5 yards on schedule, you’re playing the wrong game.
• GO balls accounted for 21.1% of the completions outside and 15.8% in the slot. Seems super high but that route is trending as the "get out of jail free" card vs pressure.
• Slot WR Screens (17.0%) + Crossers (12.3%) = manufactured touches in space. OC’s are hunting YAC, speed in space to manage perimeter players.
• 7.5 yards per attempt nationally... the throw game is here to stay. Big demand for premium quarterbacks.
Final Thoughts...
Win access.
We should all be practicing more contested GO balls.
Screens still pay the rent.
Accurate passers will continue to rule CFB.
Study the numbers. They’re telling you how games are playing out and how time needs to be spent on the practice field.
