Heat Warning(Yellow) for Lunenburg, Queens, Annapolis & Kings Counties. Temperatures reaching 30 degrees Celsius combined with overnight lows near 16 degrees Celsius are expected for the next 2 days.

Snowfall amounts of 5-10 cm are possible this evening for Yarmouth, Digby, Annapolis, Kings, Hants & Cumberland Counties!

As the popular Fleetwood Mac song says “thunder only happens when it’s raining” but that is not necessarily the case today, especially in Yarmouth area where thundersnow (a thunderstorm with snow) happened around 5 pm. While rare, it is not impossible especially in Nova Scotia!

Special Weather Statement for Lunenburg, Queens, Shelburne and Halifax Counties. 30-50 mm of rain or more Thursday eve to Friday evening. A period of intense rainfall. Thunderstorms may develop. potential exists for significant totals over some locations in the South Shore.

Snowfall Warning(Yellow) for Guysborough, Antigonish, Pictou & Cape Breton. 15-25 cm snow with wind gusts to 80 km/h.

Maximum wind gusts: northeasterly 70 km/h, except 90 over exposed areas. Reduced visibility at times in blowing snow.

Winter Storm Warning(Yellow) for Yarmouth, Digby, Annapolis, Kings, Hants, Halifax, Colchester & Cumberland Counties. Hazardous winter conditions are expected Monday morning to early Tuesday. Total snowfall: 20 to 30 cm, with locally higher amounts possible.

Wind gusts NE 80-100 km/h Strong winds accompanying the snow will reduce visibility at times in blowing snow. Snowfall rates may exceed 5 cm/hr at times Monday afternoon and evening.

Winter Storm Warning(Orange) for Lunenburg, Queens and Shelburne Counties. A major winter storm is expected with high impacts to these areas Monday morning to early Tuesday morning. 20-30 cm except local amounts up to 50 cm. (Heavy wet snow with power outages likely.)
