You need to resign, and you need to do it immediately. But I would suggest you do it before your colleagues in the House vote to remove you from Congress. Also, you really need to stop with the threats. I have lost count of the number of women who have real stories to tell, and only my wife has currently put her name on the record. The timing of this, I assume, is because of the number of women getting ready to go public in the next few days. If you believe everything that you have said throughout your career, then do the right thing. And by the way, my mentor was the same as yours: Ellen Tauscher. She would be rolling over in her grave right now knowing what you are doing. I used to have dinner with her every single week, and she would tell me how proud she was of you when you interned for her, how she helped you run for Congress against one of her colleagues that she could not stand, and how proud she was that you won. Stop fucking around today, man. You can sound as tough as you want, but it is only going to make things worse for you. Take the advice of the public Eric Swalwell we have witnessed for years and just end this immediately. And if there’s a single person you do the right thing for, do it for Ellen Tauscher. And you, of all people, know exactly what I’m talking about and how much she meant to you.
